Are you still looking for an interesting course to join this semester? The English seminar "Exploring Digital Infrastructures: Cases & Current Developments" may be something for you. You'll reflect on the power and social impact of digital infrastructures in nowadays' society. You'll discuss and present several cases and critically reflect on relevant academic literature.

New publication edited by Matthias Karmasin, Sandra Diehl and Isabell Koinig - with many interesting contributions of members of our institute. 🥳

The book focuses on developments and phenomena of change management in the media and related industries. Change management nowadays is affected by environmental and social conditions as well as convergence. Furthermore, the media industry is facing its very own challenges - among them are the continuing processes of digitalization and individualization, the rise and development of social media, data privacy, new responsibilities such as sustainability, etc.

The discussion on sexual violence gained momentum in October 2017 after the Twitter hashtag ( ) spread globally highlighting the widespread reality of this problem. Based on the assumption that the extensive media coverage can be problematic regarding the media's power to reflect and construct reality, Christina Peter, Selina Noetzel, Maria F Mussalem Gentile, Gianna Lowery, Sona Zemanova und Sophie Lecheler consider it important to research how societal issues like sexual violence are discussed in media settings. Therefore, Peter et al. carried out a study aimed to investigate how journalists frame sexual violence in the news and whether such practices have changed in the wake of the MeToo movement. A quantitative content analysis was conducted for news articles published in four US newspapers.

Results indicate that news coverage on sexual violence shifted from straightforward, single-incident reports to broader discussions.
