🌍 Raising the SDG Flag for a sustainable future.

Today marks the 11th anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Together with the UN Global Compact Netzwerk Österreich, we are raising the SDG Flag to reaffirm our commitment to climate action, gender equality, biodiversity and decent work.

The SDGs are also embedded in our study programmes. We particularly contribute to:

🎓 SDG 4 Quality Education: Flexible, high-quality university education and the integration of responsibility, ethics and sustainability into our curriculum.

💼 SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth: Developing competences in leadership, organisational behaviour and employee well-being to support fair and sustainable workplaces.

♻️ SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production: Empowering students to reflect on sustainable practices and promote responsible consumption and production in both professional and private contexts.

Because sustainable change starts with knowledge and the people who put it into practice. 💚

🍂 Fall Workshop of the Scientific Commission on Personnel at the VHB.

We are pleased that Julia Unterhuber-Waldegger, along with Martina Kohlberger and Sabine Bösl —faculty members in our degree programs—participated in this year’s fall workshop of the Scientific Commission on Personnel in Bolzano.

The fall workshop provided an opportunity to present their own research, engage in exciting discussions, and receive valuable feedback from the scientific community. The many new ideas and perspectives shared during the roundtables and paper sessions were particularly enriching and inspiring to continue their work on their research projects.

In addition to professional exchange, personal networking was, of course, also a central focus. They were able to make many interesting new connections and deepen existing ones.

Many thanks to the organizers for the successful workshop and the inspiring and supportive atmosphere! 🙌

🎓 Last week marked an important milestone for our students as they took their Bachelor’s examinations in the degree programmes “Betriebswirtschaft Online” and “Business Administration Online”.

After years of dedication and hard work, professional and personal commitments, our students have reached an important milestone in their academic journey.

We are incredibly proud of everyone who took this step and would like to congratulate all our students on their achievements! 👏

A big thank you also goes to our lecturers, supervisors, and everyone involved in supporting our students throughout their studies.

We wish all our graduates every success for the next chapter and hope they look back on their time with us with pride. 🚀

🏔 Starting the Master's studies with an excursion in the mountains!

The first course of our Master's program, "Competence Development & Self-Leadership" marked the beginning of an exciting semester focused on both academic and personal growth.

To get started our students hiked together to the Umbrüggler Alm enjoying the fresh mountain air while getting to know each other and engaging in inspiring conversations along the way.
The course lays the foundation for developing self-leadership, learning competences, and an openness to growth and change - all essential qualities for future-oriented leadership.

We are excited to accompany our students throughout this journey!

Kristina joins us in Office Management, bringing valuable experience from her previous role as Office Manager & Executive Assistant at Novasol Austria. She completed her school-leaving certificate at the Tourism School Zell am Ziller.

At the 86th conference of the Academy of Management (AOM) in Philadelphia, MCI Professor Yevgen Bogodistov presented "Teaching in War-Impacted Classrooms: Psychological Issues, Strategies, and Educators' Experience". 🎓🌍

The talk drew on interviews with Ukrainian university instructors who have continued teaching throughout the full-scale invasion, often from shelters, with unstable power and internet, and under direct threat. Extending the Job Demands-Resources model, Yevgen Bogodistov and Amanda Budde-Sung found that under extreme, sustained demands, educators split into two distinct coping patterns: some distanced themselves emotionally from the classroom to survive, while others leaned in - and, unexpectedly, this "approaching" strategy often produced positive effects at the group level, strengthening cohesion among students and colleagues under shared strain.

It's a humbling reminder that resilience in extreme conditions can take different forms - and some of the most effective coping strategies emerge from leaning into connection rather than retreating from it. 🤝

Grateful to everyone who stopped by to discuss the work, and to the instructors whose voices made this research possible.

Anna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Transcultural Communication from the University of Vienna & a Master’s degree in International, Multilingual Business Communication from Université Grenoble Alpes.

Most recently, she worked as a PR & Communications Coordinator👩🏽‍💻

Her international experience, combined with her passion for languages & communication, makes her a wonderful addition to our team.
