Today we are introducing the course "Structural design with FRP materials"

FRP composite materials represent a new class of materials with great potential for application in engineering structures. A composite material can be defined as a combination of two or more materials that results in better properties than those of the individual components used alone. The main advantages of composite materials are their high strength and stiffness, combined with low density, when compared with bulk materials, allowing for a weight reduction in the finished part. The objective of this course is to provide an integral overview of the characteristics of composite FRP materials, their mechanical behavior, approaches for analysis and mathematical modelling, as well as the procedures used for design of structures using FRP materials.

3 days left of our third call for LLL courses!

Today we are introducing the course "Introduction to Eurocodes 1990 and 1991"

The students acquire consolidated skills in the field of Fluid Dynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
The first part focuses on the fundamental theoretical basics to describe incompressible fluids and flows. Here, the basic laws of hydrostatics, kinematics, conservation principles, turbulence theory, boundary layer theory, flow around streamlined and bluff bodies, and flow analysis by spectral methods are taught. This theoretical background is applied to a variety of related practical engineering challenges to recapitulate and deepen the student’s understanding and to find adept solution procedures.
The second part discusses the computational aspects of fluid dynamics and focuses on the fundamental theoretical basics. In this part, the students are introduced to all stages of a CFD simulation from the implementation of complex geometries and numerical meshes to critically assess the results. This theoretical background is utilized to highlight essential practical guidelines for CFD simulations in various engineering professions.
