Ein einzigartiger Workshop, der Sprache und Genuss verbindet! In der modernen Schauküche des AK-Bildungszentrums kochen wir gemeinsam traditionelle kroatische Gerichte und lernen dabei typische Redewendungen und die Geschichten hinter den Rezepten kennen.

In Croatia, Christmas is celebrated with many traditions that bring families together and fill homes with warmth. December, known as the "month of giving," is marked by Christmas markets, carols, and the delightful aroma of gingerbread and mulled wine.

✨ Croatian Christmas Traditions ✨
o On Christmas Eve, people decorate the Christmas tree and light candles around the wheat planted earlier in December, symbolizing new life. In the evening, many attend Midnight Mass, a special church service.
o On Christmas Day, families gather for a festive lunch, the highlight of the holiday season. The food varies from region to region, reflecting Croatia’s rich culinary traditions:
• In Slavonia, there’s often roast pork, homemade sausages, and kulen (spicy pork sausage).
• Along the Dalmatian coast, seafood dishes, such as baked fish or octopus under a peka, are popular.
• In Istria, you might find truffles and homemade pasta, paired with local wines.
• In Zagreb and central Croatia, staples like turkey with mlinci (thin baked flatbreads, soaked in broth or drippings) and sarma (stuffed cabbage rolls) are common...

Desserts are an essential part of Christmas, and Croatian households prepare a variety of cookies and cakes:
• Walnut rolls (orahnjača) and poppy seed rolls (makovnjača).
• Vanilla crescent cookies (vanilin kiflice) and honey cookies (medenjaci).
• Fritule (small fried dough balls, often flavored with rum or citrus).
• Kuglof (a bundt cake)...
Every home has its own special recipes, passed down through generations, making the Christmas table unique and full of flavor.
