„Sprechen Sie Deutsch?" – Zumindest seit letztem Mittwoch sprechen ein paar unserer internationaler Studierende ein paar erste Worte.✨

Letzten Mittwoch trafen sich unsere internationalen Studierenden und Gäste beim International Get-Together für einen German Crash-Course von unserer Kollegin am International Office Iris. Ein paar neue Vokabeln, viel Lachen und der Beweis: Deutsch lernen kann Spaß machen und vernetzen! 🗨😄

❤️‍🔥🥼 The Cardiology Summer School 2026 has been in full swing since the beginning of last week! Since last Monday, international medical students have been diving into four weeks of hands-on learning at the Medical University of Graz (Medizinische Universität Graz )🩺.

This unique program combines inspiring lectures, interactive case discussions, and real bedside teaching at the Universitäres Herzzentrum Graz. From cardiomyopathies to pediatric cardiology, from heart surgery to cardiovascular research – participants gain insights into every corner of the heart ❤️.

🌍 Designed for medical students who have completed their pre-clinical training, the Cardiology Summer School is held entirely in English and takes place every August.

Our Paediatrics Short Course has come to an end. Since the beginning of July, international medical students have been diving into four weeks of hands-on learning at the Medical University of Graz (Medizinische Universität Graz)🩺.

This unique program combines inspiring lectures, interactive case discussions, and clinical rotations at our Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.

🌍 Designed for medical students who have completed their pre-clinical training, the Paediatrics Short Course is held entirely in English and takes place every February and July.

Staff Mobility Spotlight: Visiting Med Uni Graz!

As part of Erasmus+ KA171, we were delighted to welcome four guests from South Africa and Namibia last week: two from Namibia (University of Namibia) and two from South Africa (iYunivesithi Walter Sisulu, iWS). Our guests included colleagues from the fields of surgery, international student support, and internationalisation & partnerships.

The program focused on topics such as:
- Internationalisation & exchange of best practices
- Student mobility management for medical students
- Peer-to-peer student support & the Austrian student union (ÖH)
- Student services for doctoral/PhD students
- Welcome services for international students, staff, and guests
- Campus and university hospital tour
- Get-together with our exchange students

A special highlight: one guest from the surgical field also spent 3 additional days in the Department of General, Visceral and Transplant Surgery, gaining insights into techniques in general and laparoscopic surgery (including hernia repairs and colectomies).

Die Med Uni Graz hat sich Klimaneutralität bis 2035 zum Ziel gesetzt. Ab sofort erfassen wir bei Auslandsaufenthalten die genutzten Verkehrsmittel pro Reiseetappe – nur so können wir CO₂-Emissionen präzise berechnen und gezielt senken.
✅ Ab dem Studienjahr 2026/27 ist die Erfassung für alle Outgoings verpflichtend und Voraussetzung für die Stipendiumsauszahlung.

Friday Afternoon at Eggenberg Castle🏰

Last Friday, June 12, international students and staff enjoyed a tour through the magnificent Eggenberg Castle.

From the beautifully preserved State Rooms to the gardens, the visit offered a glimpse into history, art, and culture. The surroundings provided the perfect setting for, connection, and exploration among colleagues and students from around the world. One of the highlights of the afternoon was encountering the palace's famous peacocks, whose vibrant colors added a special touch to an already unforgettable experience.

Thank you to everyone who joined us - we look forward to many more opportunities to discover the cultural treasures of Graz together!
