Maths is Adam’s calling and passion. He is a firm believer that everyone can understand maths. His explanations are simple, accessible and his classes are marked by positive experiences and moments of success.

Adam is another wonderful person I got to know through dancing. He is quiet, relaxed and has a lot of compassion for others. Adam is also very patient and genuinely happy when others find their own joy in solving equations.

Adam’s specialisation is with the more advanced maths of Oberstufe and his classes take place online as Adam is still based in Scotland.
He has already been able to help many of our students and is always happy to take on new people.

Language is everywhere, every day, all the time.
That’s what makes it so very easy to use your own interests for learning a new language.

You like politics? Read BBC news to learn new vocabulary!
You play football? Tell someone about your last match - and practice the past simple at the same time!
You love sewing? Great, write sewing instructions using imperative!

The world is your oyster, and if you can imagine it, you can probably use it for language learning. You decide whether you will learn from schoolbooks exclusively, or study using something you enjoy!

Additional Advice: Also works for other subjects, even if it might seem tricky to begin with 😉

Mark correctly
Long textbooks, countless copies, and for the test you should have filtered out the most important. Especially at the beginning, paragraphs are often colored with highlighters. This might look nice, but it doesn't help much.

Painting is about “less is more”. A textbook should be coherent and understandable, which is why it is full of articles, filler words and grammar structures. Important when reading the text - less important when studying.

Therefore: out with it! Key words and short phrases are important when marking. The grammar does not have to be correct, you can also forget about the sentence order. The focus is the information, not the grammar.
Because if everything is important, nothing is important!

Flashcards or vocab cards - even while I was still in school, teachers loved them and students considered a waste of time.
Indeed, I had to become a teacher myself before I truly began to understand how useful they can be. The issue was that no one had ever shown me the many ways I could use them, which is why I’m sharing some of my advice with you on here throughout the next few weeks.

Tutoring as a Safety Net

The desperate search for tutors often begins as soon as the first Mahnung arrives. We wanted to wait and see how the next test would turn out...
And while that's understandable, it's still not the best strategy. Because now the house is on fire.

The semester material often has to be caught up with in a few weeks, gaps can often only be filled provisionally and many students are in a very similar position the next year at the same time. Again and again, as a tutor, you see the annual sprint to the nerve-wracking, all-or-nothing exam.

But there is another way.

Rather than seeing tutoring as a last resort, embracing it as a safety net is far more beneficial. As soon as the first difficulties arise, you can get support. Gaps can be closed immediately and a solid foundation is laid. This means that there is never a negative grade to begin with, and as soon as you have caught up on the material, you can move on from tutoring.

Different does not mean better or worse
Dyslexia, ADHD, learning disabilities...in the end, no two brains are the same, regardless of whether they are diagnosed or not.

All of our heads are constructed differently and function individually. It's not about putting everyone on the same track, but getting everyone safely to their destination. Get to know yourself, weaknesses and strengths, so that you can find your own way.

Cut yourself some slack and give yourself time to learn new things 🕰

Some things we remember after hearing them once, other stuff we need to repeat over and over and over again. But that’s okay, building new connections in your brain needs time, and not just minutes, but days, weeks, and sometimes months. 🧠

Don’t put too much pressure on your neurones, give your head enough time to repeat new material and save knowledge in your long-term memory. 😊

Sustainability has been an important part of my life for many years. As a freelancer I get to make a lot of business decisions myself, so I have the liberty to always try to pick the most economically friendly option. 🌱

My beautiful yellow backpack from that I found on the is made from recycled bottles! ☀️

My old backpack had simply become too small and worn after 10 good years. The new backpack has wider, softer straps that sit comfortably on my shoulders and it can hold 30l - perfect for a full day of work 🎒

My advice: be careful in your choice of bag. A bag that can’t hold everything you need, that doesn’t give good storage options and sits badly on your back cannot only ruin your day but have a lasting impact on your posture!
