Did you know? When a verb ends in K, the -ED often sounds like /T/! 🤯

Many English learners pronounce every -ED the same way, but native speakers don’t!

*Rule:
If a regular verb ends in the /k/ sound, the -ED is pronounced /t/.

📚 Examples:

— Walk → Walked /wɔːkt/
🗣 “We walked to work yesterday.”

—Talk → Talked /tɔːkt/
🗣 “I talked to my manager this morning.”

— Work → Worked /wɜːrkt/
🗣 “She worked late last night.”

— Kick → Kicked /kɪkt/
🗣 “He kicked the ball into the goal.”

*Don’t say “walk-ed” or “talk-ed.”
Say walkt, talkt, workt, kickt!

Practice:
“Yesterday, I walked, talked, worked, and kicked.”

2️⃣ HALF → the L is silent
3️⃣ TALK → the L is silent

5️⃣ COULD → the L is silent

🔹 2. Piece of cake
Meaning: Very easy.

💬 Example:

Meaning: Feeling sick.

💬 Example:

🔹 4. Hit the nail on the head
Meaning: Be exactly right.

💬 Example:
“You hit the nail on the head with that answer.”

Meaning: Very rarely.

STOP CONFUSING “FOR” AND “SINCE”!

❌ I’ve lived here since 5 years.
❌ I’ve studied English for 2020.

✅ Let’s fix it!

👉 FOR = a period of time
Use FOR when you talk about how long something has happened.

Examples:
✔️ I’ve studied English for 3 years.
✔️ She has worked here for six months.
✔️ We’ve been friends for a long time.

👉 SINCE = a starting point
Use SINCE when you say when something started.

Examples:
✔️ I’ve studied English since 2020.
✔️ She has worked here since January.
✔️ We’ve been friends since high school.

🔥 Quick Trick:
FOR = duration ⏳
SINCE = starting point 📍

🎯 STOP saying these all mean the same thing!

Many ESL learners confuse HAVE TO, MUST, and SHOULD. Here’s the difference:

✅ HAVE TO = a rule or obligation
📌 I have to wear a uniform at work.
📌 You have to show your passport at the airport.

✅ MUST = something very important or a strong obligation
📌 I must finish this report today.
📌 You must wear a seatbelt.

✅ SHOULD = advice or recommendation
📌 You should study English every day.
📌 You should get more sleep.

⚠️ Common mistake:
❌ You mustn’t study tonight = It is forbidden.
✅ You don’t have to study tonight = It’s not necessary.

Why? In English, we use TO BE for age, not TO HAVE.

❌ 2. I assist meetings
✅ I attend meetings

Assist = help
Attend = be present at a meeting

❌ 3. I’m agree
✅ I agree

“Agree” is already a verb. No need for “am.”

❌ 4. Actually, I work in marketing
(when you mean “currently”)

✅ Currently, I work in marketing

Actually = in fact
Currently = ahora / actualmente

❌ 5. The people in my team is motivated
✅ The people in my team are motivated

“People” is plural in English.
