Game:Get and Complete the information
Category: This game is best suited for Children - Teenagers...you decide!!

Each student prepares a blank sheet where he / she writes his / her name at the top and places it with blu-tack or zeal on the wall. Next, the teacher explains that while the music is playing, they should move around the classroom and find a partner with whom they should talk and get as much information as possible (age, hobbies, tastes ...), and if the teacher stops playing the music, they should look for their classmates sheet and complete it with all the information that they remember. When the music plays again, they do the same, but with another different classmate and when the music stops, they complete their information that is not already written on it. This can be done for 15 minutes. The teacher will decide if the music will go on playing or if it is necessary to pause it in order to give the students time to speak at least with 3 or 4 classmates. At the end, students are left with the sheet of the last mate they have spoken and they will read the information the have achieved to the rest of the class, while the students are reading the information, the teacher also the students will have the opportunity to correct the errors if there were any. It is a good way to work and share also to know each other. It helps us to develop the major skills in an integrated way.

Halloween game
Have a mummy race!
You Need
Lots of toilet paper. Try looking at a supply store or a dollar store since you'll need about three rolls per group.
Divide the class into smaller groups ...,even teams of at least two; three people per team works best. Line up your teams at a starting line, and put a cone (or a pumpkin!) 10 or 20 feet away.
After one team member becomes a mummy, he or she will hop out to the cone and back again for the mummy race.
But first someone on each team needs to become a mummy!
Give each team one roll of toilet paper, and ask teams to decide who will become the mummy. To organize it a bit, try letting each group draw jobs, one child might pick the mummy slip of paper, one gets wrapper, etc. You can also break this down further to give each child a job like wrapping arms and legs, one wraps the torso, etc. Keep the eyes, mouth and nose uncovered, don't throw the toilet paper around the room. This game works better with older, more behaved kids
At "Go," the rest of the team starts wrapping the toilet paper around and around their mummy teammate.
When the entire roll is wrapped around the mummy, he or she should take off hopping to the cone and back!
The object is for each group to wrap their mummy faster than the other groups but doing a good job. You can have a winner for the best mummy or a race for the fastest mummy wrapped, or no winner at all.
First team to get their mummy across the finish line wins! -
Notes:
The players will soon discover that toilet paper tears really easily and to successfully wrap their mummies, the kids have to do it without tearing the paper. If they tear it, they have to start again.
Expect a lot of “do-overs” in this game.!!!

Educational Bingo

There are literally countless ways to use bingo. This is an award-winning bingo game based upon the people of American History. The boards have people’s faces on them and the clues are all standards-based facts.

What about math bingo – the boards have numbers and the clues are problems that the students have to do mentally (or with scratch paper). Bingo can be used for phonics, vocabulary, spelling, sounds of letters.

The other great part about bingo is that you can make a game specifically designed for what your students are learning, go to any store and buy a bingo game, or make it an end of unit activity to create a bingo game in small groups – and then play that game in class. To make it free and easy, print out blank bingo cards and have students randomly fill in answers from the word/number bank before you start

How To Play Ice-Breaker Bingo

The purpose of playing ice-breaker bingo is help a group of people introduce themselves to each other, and start to get to know each other. It can therefore be useful for classes, social events, and business gatherings.

The way that the game is played is:
Each member of the group is given one of the ice-breaker bingo cards.

They members of the group are then told to circulate, talk to other members of the group, and get people who match the descriptions on their bingo cards to sign matching squares. It is best to place a limit on the number of squares a person can sign on any particular bingo card - say 1 or 2 squares per person.

The winner of the game is the first person to get a winning pattern of signed squares (say two intersecting lines of five). In the event of a tie, or nobody achieving this goal before the time runs out, whoever has the most different signatures on their card is the winner.
Note: While it's good for players to have a little competitive spirit, it should also be remembered that it doesn't really matter too much who wins - the main purpose is meet the other people in the group, and for players to introduce themselves to each other.

Teenagers game! "Threes"
The pairs version of this is quite well-known. Students have a number of cards in front of them upside down and they must take turns turning over two. If they get a word that matches the picture they keep the cards. The student with most pairs at the end is the winner.
The version below is based on lexical sets, but you could choose the three parts of the verb (go, went gone, drink, drank, drunk etc).

Prepare cards like the ones below:

Red Green Pink

Cut up the cards, ensuring you cannot read the words when the card is upside down. Spread them on the floor upside down and mixed up.
Divide your class into up to five teams. Each team must nominate a secretary who will choose the cards.
One at a time each secretary will ask the teacher to turn over three cards (great for ‘on the right’, ‘that one near your foot’ etc).
The team only wins the cards if the words are all in the same lexical set.
Otherwise the teacher turns them over again in exactly the same place as they were.

The teams with most ‘threes’ at the end is the winner.
Students really focus on the position of the cards and think carefully about meaning of words and how they connect.

Crazy Story
Level: Any Level
This is an activity that will make your students speak in class and be creative.
Ask students to write a word on a piece of paper and tell them not to show anyone. This word should be a verb (or whatever you'd like to rewiew).
The teacher starts telling a story, then stops and chooses a student.
That student will continue the story and must use his/her word. This student then chooses the next student to continue the story.
The last student must end the story.
After the story is over, the students then try to guess what words each student has written on his/her paper. The student who guesses the most words wins the game

Fold-over Stories
Level: Any Level
This is an old favorite. Give each student a sheet of blank paper. Write the following words on the board in a vertical line: WHO, WHAT, HOW, WHERE, WHEN, WHY. Explain that everyone will be writing a sentence story. Write an example on the board, explain, asking for suggestions.
Tell them to write someone's name at the top of their paper, i.e., their own, a classmate's, the teacher's, a famous person that everyone knows; fold the paper over once so no one can see it, then pass the paper to the person on their right.
Write on the received paper what the subject did (suggest funny or outrageous actions), fold it over and pass it on to the right.
Continue to write one line, how they did it (adverbs), fold and pass; where-pass; when-pass; and last of all, why (because...) and pass it one more time.
Have the students unfold their stories, and read them silently. Help anyone who cannot read what the others wrote, or doesn't understand.
Ask one student at a time to read "their" story aloud, or turn the stories in for the teacher to read. Funny!

Guide Word Game

ShareFull Definition of GUIDE WORD
: either of the terms at the head of a page of an alphabetical reference work (as a dictionary) indicating the alphabetically first and last words on the page

Students play a timed game to locate guide words in a dictionary.

Objectives: Students define the term guide words. Locate guide words on specific dictionary pages.Work together in cooperative groups.Keywords dictionary, guide words, game, timed

Materials Needed[shopmaterials]
dictionaries (one per pair of students), paper, pens or pencils, teacher-made work sheets that list words beginning with different letters of the alphabet, answer key

Ask students to describe the term guide words and give examples.
Organize students into pairs. Give each group one dictionary and a teacher-made work sheet that has a list of words beginning with different letters of the alphabet.
Tell students to look up each word on the list. Tell students they have X minutes to locate and write down the guide words that appear at the top of the page for each word and the page numbers the guide words fall on. (Vary time limit according to students' ages and abilities.)

Assessment
At the end of the time limit, give students the answers from the answer key and have them check their own work. Evaluate students' responses and abilities to work together in cooperative groups. -

TPR warm up game
This is a game that is great do at the beginning of nearly every lesson.
Its gets the kids lively and active and it helps their listening skills, and if they can learn to stand up and sit down quickly you won't be wasting time later on in the lesson! From then on you add in new words each week, and is really effective.
It's basically TPR, total physical response, although with limited class time it's usually better to get the kids repeating the words as soon as you can
At the beginning you simply shout out commands at the kids.
First of all simple things like "Stand Up" or "Sit Down" are OK, along with "Good Morning" (great to practice the Good Morning Song! ).
Also, try tricking them by saying "STAND UP" when they are already standing up!
As you meet the kids more you can add words such as JUMP, SPIN (a big favourite), EAT, DRINK, CHEER, CLAP,GOOD NIGHT (they go to sleep, GOOD MORNING !
Later BOY, GIRL can be added (much laughter when boys stand up when you say "GIRLS STAND UP").
Also BIG, SMALL e.g. BIG JUMP, LITTLE JUMP and QUIET, LOUD e.g. QUIET CLAP, LOUD CHEER.
Even 1st Years can get quite advanced with things such as "GIRLS@5 BIG SPIN JUMPS"
or try using "PLAY" e.g. "Play Piano, Play Tennis" or things like "Watch TV"
For "Clap" or "Cheer" get them to vary the volume as you raise or lower your arm - it's a great "volume control" for the moments when you do want them to be quiet!!!
If you want some more words, try "cry" or even "zip it!"
Once you get past these basics, try some other topics, try the past or future tenses, i.e. basically do the same thing but point to a calendar on the wall first.
Then you can start moving on to stories. A good way to do this is to get your kids to think of stories in groups in their native language, translate them and use them in the next class! For the stories, things like Spiderman, Harry Potter or famous characters are best!

Mystery Theatre

This is great for teachers, sit back and enjoy original and wacky plays created by students!
Materials needed- Just a whiteboard and some markers!
The set up- Not much, you will need to write some themes like romance, comedy, horror,.. in one corner of the board, at least one of them for each group. Then just prepare 10 random questions to elicit words with.
The activity-
The main point is to create role plays. The trick is, don't tell them that until the last minute. Put them into groups of 2-6 students depending on your class size. Without explaining why you're doing this, elicit ten, TOTALLY different words from the students and write them on the board. The more random the better.
For example, I might ask students things like

Name your favorite food!

Tell me something thats scary!

What is something you would say to the person you love!

Tell me a planet!

Give me a boys name!

What smells very bad!

you get the idea....when you finish to do this and have words listed on the board, assign each group a theme.

Now, explain them what to do.
Every team must create and perform a role play for the class, finding a way to use every word written on the board at least one!
On top of that, their play must be in their designated theme!
Give them enough time... to work in groups and figure out just what they will say! After that, bring the class back together for presentations.

Teaching Vowels
Most Kindergarten teachers begin to teach vowels right away with their phonics programs. Once the students have begun to understand consonant and short vowel sounds, teachers can begin this vowel activity, song and game.
Tell the students that in addition to the consonants that they have been learning, there are 5 vowels that have special sounds, sometimes even more than one sound. The vowels are a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes, y. Today we will focus on the vowels, a, e, i, o, and u.
Ahead of time, write the vowel song on chart paper. This is a song that I have created, although there are many vowel songs on the Internet to choose from.
Introduce the Vowel Song (to the tune of BINGO), by Laurie Patsalides
There are some letters I love to sing
and vowels are their name-o
a, e, i, o, u
a, e, i, o, u
a, e, i, o, u
and vowels are their name-o.
(Just as in the BINGO song, clap as each vowel becomes silent).
This song can also be reinforced later in the year when students begin to recognize that sometimes vowels are silent. Remind the students of this song.
Teach the students that when they sing this vowel song, they are singing the long vowels (they say their name a, e, i, o, and u).
Once the students have understood what the vowels are, then you can introduce the same song using the short sounds of the vowel letters (a, e, i, o, and u). Sing the song the same way as before, only use the short vowel sounds in place of saying the letters. Students enjoy this part, because it's almost like a tongue twister to them.
Play the Vowel Game with the Song
How to Make the Cards for the Vowel Game:
Take an index card (or sentence strip) and print the 5 vowels (in lowercase) on them, and cut them apart so that each student has the 5 vowels.
Provide one small plastic bag with the 5 vowels in it for each student.
How to Play the Game:
Seated in a circle, students place their cards face up in front of them on the floor. Sing the vowel song once again. As the letter becomes silent, the student turns that vowel card over. For example, _, e, i, o, u (the student flips the "a" over.) Continue singing the song until all cards have been flipped over.
Missing Vowel Exercise
Once the students are comfortable in knowing the vowels and their sounds, the teacher can introduce short words with short vowels in them. Create some cards with short words on them, for example c_t (cat), d_g (dog), r_d (red), and so on. Use a short vowel word list with pictures as a guide. I like to include a picture on the back of the card for picture support and self correction. Students practice by placing the correct missing vowel on the card from their vowel bag.
Students will certainly enjoy this hands-on method of teaching the vowels. The games can be adapted to several grade levels. Before you know it, the abstract concept of learning vowels and the vowel sounds will be mastered by your students.
