WAYS WE USE THE PRESENT CONTINUOUS
Hello everyone!
Today, let's look at one of the ways we can use the present continuous.
We can use the present continuous to talk about definite future arrangements. We usually use a future time word (like ‘tonight’ or ‘next week’). In this case we have already made a plan and we are sure that the event will happen in the future.
-I’m meeting my father tomorrow.
-We’re going to the beach at the weekend.
-I’m leaving at three o’clock.
We can’t use stative verbs with the present continuous. If we want to talk about definite future arrangements with a stative verb, we usually use a different tense, like ‘be going to’.
· I’m going to be in Glasgow at the weekend. (NOT: I’m being in Glasgow at the weekend.)
Let's review!
Make sentences that talk about the future using the present continuous.
1. The children / go / to the fair at the weekend. _______________________________________________________________________
2. David / not / work / next week. _______________________________________________________________________
3. You / play / tennis tomorrow?

ORDER OF ADJECTIVES
Hello everyone!
Today, let's look at the order of adjectives in English.
Sometimes we want to use more than one adjective before a noun. In this case, we usually put the adjectives in a certain order.
For example, we usually put adjectives that talk about our opinion first. We put determiners (a / an / the / this etc) before all the adjectives.
She wore a beautiful red dress. (opinion + colour)
We DON'T say 'she wore a red beautiful dress'.
Here is the order that we generally use, though it's very unusual to have more than three adjectives, and often we only use one or two.
Opinion: pretty, horrible, lovely
Size: huge, tiny, big, little
Age: old, young, new
Shape: round, square, triangular
Colour: black, red, yellow
Origin: British, Chinese, French
Material: woollen, wooden, silk
Purpose: writing (paper), school (shoes)
Here are some more examples.
What a fabulous little flat! (opinion + size)
They bought this cute plastic chair. (opinion + material)
He sat on an ugly square cushion. (opinion + shape)
They ate some delicious French bread. (opinion + origin)
I need some new black pens. (age + colour)
She wore a green Chinese scarf. (colour + origin)
