This morning at 3:30AM Sherry underwent a very serious operation for a large tumor on her brain. It was life threatening but the operation went well. The operating team was made up of seven people. At that time of the morning! We are so grateful to God. Please pray with us for her soon recovery.

Esta madrugada a las 3:30 horas operaron de urgencia a Sherry por un tumor grande que encontraron en su cerebro. Se trataba de una situación de riesgo de vida. Pero agradecemos a Dios que la operación fue exitosa. Siete personas compusieron el equipo de cirugía ¡a esa hora de la mañana!

Ralph and Frances Hiatt took Tom and Lois Paino to visit our Bible School in Buenos Aires. At that time, the school facilites were used for retreats and one had just ended. Those particular friends had left the place a mess and we were trying to clean up. The Paino’s first impression was not positive to say the least. But someone in their group looking at Sherry and me and said: “These kids are so young. Let’s help them.” That was the beginning of Lakeview and the Paino’s sowing into the very fertile soil of Instituto Bíblico Río de la Plata.
We were trying to raise funds for the roofs of two large buildings. I called Pastor Tom thinking I would ask for a thousand dollars. “How much is it for both roofs?”
he asked. “$85,000. “OK. We’ll send you $5,000 a month.” I was flabbergasted.
That beginning became a deep and powerful relationship and the flow of blessing for years. Funds for the roof of another large dormitory and library building. Funds to purchase three houses for married students’ dorms. Funds to provide a five storey dormitory and classroom building.
They accompanied us through the years of amazing growth due to the waves of revival in Argentina. Students from twenty other nations have studied at the school. The graduates minister in forty nations and all over Argentina. The school continues with impetus under the leadership of our son, Ben, and his wife, Belu. The touch of God is on the school. Along with theological and ministerial training, are constant practical application. Also, wholehearted worship and always, tears at the altar. So much fruit in this fertile soil. Pastor Tom Paino: a life poured out for God.
