This past Saturday Academia Buenos Aires celebrated its 20 years of existence.

What started out as an idea in a small rented apartment in 2004 at a time Argentina was “cheap” for travelers and at a time the internet was just becoming the marketing tool of choice, has turned into an organization with a consolidated group of excellent dedicated teachers of varios generations, 15 classrooms, 2 retired first generation staff members, an increasing number of prestigious institutional clients, a renowned training program for Spanish teachers and more than ten thousand former students.

Sustaining and growing an organization in Argentina is an ongoing challenge. More than most other countries, we are exposed to world crises, internal crises, currency pressures, political change and bureaucratic challenges.

We did not reinvent the wheel. There were excellent Spanish schools before us and there are now and they offer many of the same services we do. Some of the recipes for growth of our organization have been persistence, wanting to systematically improve, a bit of conservatism in our decisions and above all a great teams of professionals.

What the students value about our school is the personal treatment, something we did from the beginning, taking time to listen to each one, integrating them into our culture and making them part of our daily life. The community of Academia is a good place to study, work and share experiences.

Indeed, this organization is a permanent team effort, including teachers and academic staff, administrative staff, our host families, cleaning and repair staff and many more. Being part of a network of professionals is equally important, especially SEA Asociación de Centros de Idiomas and the Instituto Cervantes and our sales agents.

Here is to another successful 20 years! 🥂
