The excursions are back!
As was common before the pandemic, our weekly schedule included a day of excursions, two days of cultural workshops complementary to the Spanish classes and a night of Argentine cinema. We are pleased to tell you that, since the beginning of November, we have been able to resume all of our activities. Obviously, the time off has allowed us to improve our schedule and to plan new routes, so we decided to map the city without losing sight of its secrets and its history.

Dear students,

given the current spread of the Corona virus, the argentine government has decided to close all schools in Argentina and to start teaching online, to the extent possible. While Ailolas’ premises will be closed until the end of march, all classes continue and will be taught online. Please get in touch with by mail or phone to arrange the logistics.

At Ailola we are often asked what we suggest students to do in Patagonia. The region is vast and there are literally thousands of hikes and activities we can recommend. Here is a small list of some highlights.

Enjoy Patagonia walking

Patagonia is a special region to enjoy outdoors activities. El Chaltén is the National Capital of Trekking in Argentina. There are multiple options for walking, climbing or going on expeditions. The landscapes are unique and unforgettable. This small mountain village is located in Santa Cruz Province. Most activities do not require previous hiking experience in the mountains.

Have you tried food from Patagonia with fresh and natural products?

Sebastian Mazzuchelli is one of the best cooks in Patagonia. He lives in Villa Pehuenia, a natural paradise, located in Neuquén province. Mazzuchelli use natural products to prepare different recipes with a patagonian style. He also organizes every year the Festival del Chef Patagónico.

Walk into paradise and sleep in a mountain hut

El Cajón del azul is a magical place located in Rio Negro province. You can get to the mountain hut after walking for around 4 hours. The landscape, the fresh air, the river is the perfect combination to reset our brains and start again. Patagonia is one of the most visited regions in Argentina.

Aldo Sessa is an Argentinean photographer who always tries to have his camera ready. His pictures of the Palermo woods are very famous. The Palermo woods were designed by Carlos Thays, an incredible landscape arquitect, who worked in many places of Buenos Aires. We love to walk in the Palermo woods and in the Botanical garden.

Empanadas are one of the most common dishes in Argentina. There are many different recipies according to each region. Enjoy them with a glass of red wine.

Ischigualasto / Talampaya Natural Parks

These two contiguous parks contain the most complete continental fossil record known from the Triassic Period (245-208 million years ago). Six geological formations in the parks contain fossils of a wide range of ancestors of mammals, dinosaurs and plants revealing the evolution of vertebrates and the nature of palaeo-environments in the Triassic Period.
