SEGAP (Seminar on Gender, Affects, and Politics, Alejandro Korn Institute of Philosophy, University of Buenos Aires) invites proposals for participation in the VII Symposium Thinking Affect. This open and transdisciplinary event aims to expand upon the pluralistic debate that began at the first symposium in 2013. Since the turn of the century, the so-called affective turn has transformed ways of thinking about the Humanities and Social Sciences, without claiming to constitute a comprehensive theory. From various disciplines—philosophy, critical theory, cultural studies, feminism, anthropology, arts, history, and literature—affects have become a privileged field of exploration for understanding how contemporary relationships, belonging, and ways of life are configured. Often reflecting a reinterpretation of previous philosophical discussions, and in other cases presenting interventions intended to be groundbreaking, debates within the field have begun to permeate more recent disputes and vocabularies.

Thus, proposals focusing on the impact of the affective turn on the development of the most nascent debates in the Humanities and Social Sciences will be especially valued.

Abstracts (up to 300 words) should be submitted between November 15, 2025, and February 15, 2026, to [email protected]. To facilitate the thematic organization of the tables, please specify your preferred theme in your submission. Artistic proposals will be accepted only if space and logistics permit.
