📣 The link between spirituality and religiosity will be the focus of the third and final webinar in the international series “Spirituality and Solidarity Service-Learning”, organized by the Uniservitate South-Western Europe Hub and coordinated by the University of Deusto.

👉🏼 It will take place on the next wednesday 23rd September at 3:00 pm (Spanish time) and will be led by Arantza Echaniz-Barrondo, a lecturer in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Deusto.

🗣️ This session will be held in Spanish with simultaneous translation into English, just like the previous ones, to encourage participation from Uniservitate’s international community.

📌 Around twenty countries and many other Catholic higher education institutions were represented on Wednesday 26th August in San Isidro, in the province of Buenos Aires (Argentina), during the Uniservitate Global Meeting.

➡ As every year, this event was held the day before the CLAYSS International Solidarity Service-Learning Conference and was an opportunity to meet, learn about specific experiences and discuss the present and future of an education approach engaged with local communities.

📌 Candelaria Ferrara, the coordinator of the Uniservitate global network hubs, visited Christ University in Bengaluru (India), where the university authorities are pursuing a sustained process of institutionalising service-learning.

👉🏽 Over five days, between 28th July and 1st August,2026 the representative from the Uniservitate Coordination gained first-hand insight into the work the university carries out across its various campuses and shared experiences with students, faculty members and university officials regarding the progress and challenges of service-learning.

📌 From August 2 to 6, the University of St. Joseph in Macau, China, hosted the 2026 Service-Learning Student Summit, which brought together representatives from higher education institutions in Asia and Oceania to share experiences, projects, and lessons learned regarding service-learning. María Rosa Tapia, coordinator of Uniservitate, and Candelaria Ferrara, head of the Network ‘s hubs, participated in the activities and supported this regional gathering.

📌 Investigadores de Uniservitate podrán postular sus trabajos a un número especial de RIDAS

👉🏼 Los equipos que participaron en los Pequeños Fondos de Investigación (Small Research Grants) de Uniservitate están invitados a presentar artículos para un número especial de la Revista Iberoamericana de Aprendizaje-Servicio (RIDAS), que será publicado en abril de 2027.

🗓️ La convocatoria abrirá el 1 de septiembre y la fecha límite para la presentación de resúmenes será el 30 de octubre.

📌 Uniservitate researchers may submit their work to a special issue of RIDAS

👉🏼 Teams that took part in Uniservitate’s Small Research Grants scheme are invited to submit articles for a special issue of the Ibero-American Journal of Service-Learning (RIDAS), which is due to be published in April 2027.

🗓️ The call for submissions will open on 1 September and the deadline for submitting abstracts is 30 October.

📣 We would like to invite you to the UNISERVITATE World Prayer, which will take place on Thursday, 3rd September.

🕥 7 AM Perú / 9 AM Argentina / 2 PM Spain / 8 PM Philippines.

🙏 The prayer will be led by the University of San Agustin, Philippines.

📌 We will have Spanish and English interpreters on hand to ensure that the entire community can participate.

⌛ It will last 20 minutes.

📌 A space to share and build community among students, educators, and all those involved in the Uniservitate program. In a context that calls for building bridges and working for peace, let us join the students who will be leading the prayer.

📌 In the late afternoon, during Uniservitate Day, we held a workshop involving all participants, focusing on the exchange of ideas and collaborative work on best practices in the design and implementation of Service-Learning projects.

👉🏽 Afterwards, we visited the “Tajy Poty Intercultural Art Trail” project (“Sendero artístico intercultural Tajy Poty”, based in the castle adjacent to the University of San Isidro, and later were given a guided tour covering the heritage, history and culture surrounding San Isidro Cathedral.

➡️ Uniservitate Day concluded with a Mass presided over by Monsignor Guillermo Caride. We would like to thank the entire community of the University of San Isidro and the cathedral for making this fraternal gathering of the global Uniservitate network possible!

📌 Uniservitate Day continued in the afternoon with a presentation on solidarity service-learning (SSL) in contexts of confinement, given by the Triada Ensamble Orchestra – UP 47 San Martín Prison Project.

➡️ This orchestra project, which has been running for over eight years and brings together the collaborative efforts of the El Cordal Ensamble group and the Argentine Kodály Association, is one of the educational initiatives within the prison context that USI students and graduates carry out with the aim of providing tools for holistic development, social interaction and resocialisation to people deprived of their liberty (both women and men).

👉🏽 The aim is for participants to validate their musical knowledge and acquire a trade and a life plan upon regaining their freedom by learning to play string instruments such as violins, violas and cellos, as well as joining wind sections and a mixed choir.

📌 During the first part of Uniservitate Day, we visited the ‘Los Huerteros’ project, a service-learning initiative at the University of San Isidro.

👉🏼 We had the opportunity to learn about this initiative first-hand from the project coordinators and its beneficiaries, for whom working in the vegetable garden provides a trade and financial independence. Students and lecturers from the Business Administration, Communication and Law degree programmes provide training relevant to their fields to ensure that “Los Huerteros” remains a sustainable project over time.

➡️ Members of the Uniservitate delegation brought tools from their own countries for working in vegetable gardens and for training people with disabilities, such as cards featuring different flowers from India, which were made with embossed leaves so that, using the ‘baile’ technique, people can learn to identify different types of crops.

🪏 Finally, we took a tour of the area where “Los Huerteros” make homemade jams and preserves using fruit from the vegetable garden.

📌 La Cumbre de Estudiantes de Aprendizaje-Servicio 2026, realizada en la Universidad St, Joseph (Macao), contó con la participación de María Rosa Tapia y Candelaria Ferrara (coordinadora general y coordinadora de los nodos regionales de Uniservitate, respectivamente), así como miembros del nodo Uniservitate para Asía y Oceanía, de la Universidad de De La Salle, Filipinas.

➡ Quienes participaron de este evento pudieron, asimismo, visitar el Proyecto "Gota a Gota", ubicado en uno de los ecosistemas costeros más importantes de Macao, en el que observaron de cerca el papel que desempeñan los manglares en la protección de las costas, el fomento de la biodiversidad y el fortalecimiento de la resiliencia medioambiental. Una prueba más de cómo el aprendizaje-servicio puede conectar el conocimiento, la responsabilidad y la acción significativa en favor del planeta.

📌 The 2026 Service-Learning Students’ Summit, held at St Joseph’s University (Macau), was attended by María Rosa Tapia and Candelaria Ferrara (general coordinator and regional hubs coordinator for Uniservitate, respectively), as well as members of the Uniservitate hub for Asia and Oceania, from De La Salle University in the Philippines.

➡ Those who took part in this event were also able to visit the "Drop by Drop" Project, located in one of Macau’s most important coastal ecosystems, where they observed at close quarters the role that mangroves play in protecting coastlines, promoting biodiversity and strengthening environmental resilience. This is further proof of how service-learning can connect knowledge, responsibility and meaningful action for the benefit of the planet.
