📚On September 26, the “Fall Book Club 2026” program launched at the Ara Sargsyan and Hakob Kojoyan House-Museum. As part of the program, participants will read and discuss Ayn Rand’s “We the Living” together.

🍀Gor Badalyan, CEO of the Ayn Rand Center Armenia delivered the opening remarks. Afterward, the book club facilitator, Naira Iritsyan, organized an ice-breaking activity for the participants.

📖During this meeting, participants discussed the first five chapters of the book.
Through active discussion and a Q&A session, attendees shared their views on the main female protagonist and the impact she had within the depicted social order.

📕In the second part of the discussion, participants focused on the Argounova family and how the revolution changed their lives. The launch of the “Fall Book Club 2026” program is promising, and many interesting meetings and discussions are expected in the near future.

Dear participant, Naira will be the moderator for the “Fall Book Club”. Are you ready to get to know her?

🔎Naira Iritsyan is a pedagog and a project manager. She is actively involved in teaching, youth work and organizing different projects. Naira is currently working as a Head of the Office in the British College in Armenia.

🎯She also has an intense interest in philosophy. She has participated in all the programs organized by Ayn Rand Armenia, such as Book clubs, Objectivism Vol 1.school and so on. She has also actively participated in various local and international trainings, conferences etc.

What happens when the individual refuses to disappear?

Published in 1936, Ayn Rand’s We the Living tells the story of Kira Argounova, a young woman trying to build a life of her own in post-revolutionary Soviet Russia.

Kira dreams of becoming an engineer and living according to her own choices. But she finds herself trapped in a society where the individual is expected to surrender personal ambition, love, freedom, and even dreams to the demands of the collective.

As Kira struggles to survive, she becomes caught between love, loyalty, freedom, and survival. Her relationships with Leo Kovalensky and Andrei Taganov take the story into increasingly difficult moral territory, forcing her to confront one fundamental question:

Can a person remain free when society demands that they live for everyone else?

We the Living is not simply a story about Soviet Russia. It is a story about individual dignity, the right to live for oneself, and the cost of refusing to surrender your values.

📖 This fall, we will read, discuss, and question We the Living together.
