From elected to effective. đź’™
Last Friday and Saturday, our newly elected Student Council and House leaders travelled to Gyumri for the CIS Armenia Leadership Camp — two days designed to move leadership beyond titles and into real responsibility, decision-making and action.
Throughout the camp, students explored what leadership looks like in practice. They worked through team challenges, discussed communication and responsibility, and took on a project-management exercise in which they had to reverse-engineer the entire camp — considering transport, accommodation, food, activities, communication, budgeting, deadlines and all the small details that turn an idea into a real project.
One of the most meaningful parts of the programme was our visit to the Little Prince Day Care Center of Armenian Caritas, where students learned more about social responsibility and community service and took part in an interactive activity with the children at the centre.
The camp also gave our newly elected leaders time to begin thinking seriously about the year ahead: what they want to improve at CIS Armenia, what projects they want to lead, and how they can turn ideas into realistic plans with responsibilities, timelines and budgets.
A message we returned to throughout the weekend was simple:
Everyone can receive the same opportunity — but what you take from it depends on how involved, curious, proactive and willing to challenge yourself you choose to be.
The weekend concluded with students stepping formally into their new leadership roles and making their commitment to serve their Houses and the wider CIS community.
Now comes the most important part: bringing those ideas, responsibilities and commitments back to school — and turning them into action.
