AATT is delighted to welcome Dr. Marjana Prifti Skënduli to its faculty as Head of the Department of Computing and Information Technologies (CIT)!

Dr. Skënduli is a computer scientist whose research spans artificial intelligence, machine learning and quantum computing, with a particular focus on AI in education. After earning a Ph.D. in Machine Learning from the University of New York Tirana, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Quantum Machine Learning at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy. Her career combines 15 years in academia with a decade of IT leadership in industry.

Internationally, she has advised the Council of Europe as an expert on Artificial Intelligence and Education and evaluated frontier AI systems as a policy researcher in OpenAI's Red Team Network.

In 2023, Dr. Skënduli founded AI Albania, the country's first center dedicated to AI excellence and the development of a responsible AI ecosystem. A Heidelberg Laureate Forum Young Researcher and Awards Chair of ACM-W Global, she is a leading voice for responsible AI and for the advancement and representation of women in computing.

Alba Ymerhalili is a Lecturer and Head of Admissions at AATT. She holds an MSc in Management of Institutions and Health Services and a BA in Management & Public Policy, with a minor in International Relations, from Rochester Institute of Technology in Kosovo.

Her professional experience spans higher education, international admissions, research, and health systems management. She has worked in international admissions and exchange coordination at RIT Kosovo and has taught in Nursing and Health Management programs.

Her research focuses on digital health, health information systems, healthcare quality, and public health. She has co-authored two peer-reviewed publications, including a 2024 study published in the Scopus-indexed Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems and a 2025 study on antimicrobial stewardship in primary care in Kosovo.

🌱 The call for Balkan Green Ideas 2026 is now open.
For its 15th edition, Balkan Green Ideas invites individuals, teams, and initiatives with locally rooted ideas that respond to environmental challenges while creating social and economic value in their communities.

Selected applicants will first participate in the national competition in Tirana which will take place on October 10th 2026, with the winning ideas advancing to the BGI 2026 Regional Competition, taking place on 3–5 November 2026.

We are honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Gëzim Karapici to the faculty at AATT!

With a distinguished career spanning over five decades, Prof. Karapici is a cornerstone of Albania’s electrical engineering and academic landscape.

From helping design Albania’s first Analog Computer to serving as the founding Rector of the Polytechnic University of Tirana, his leadership has shaped generations of engineers and researchers.

Beyond academia, Mr.Karapici has served his country as a Member of Parliament, Vice-Chairman of the Education Commission, and a key figure in introducing Distance Education to Albania through international initiatives like the NETTUNO Consortium.

Author of the fundamental three-part textbook Electric Power System Control and former Rector and Dean across top institutions in Tirana, Prof. Karapici brings unmatched expertise in automatic control systems, power dynamics, and digital control to our students.

Medina Orana is the Head of Academic Services for RIT programs are AATT and a seasoned Project & Change Management professional with 10+ years of experience, having lectured at UCLA, the University of Sussex, and the University of Prishtina, among others.

A certified PMP with degrees from RIT Kosovo, Sussex, and UCLA, Medina holds notable achievements including the RIT Provost’s Award (2021) and the Kosovo US Alumni Emerging Leader Award (2022). Medina has led major regional initiatives from transposing EU nuclear safety directives to founding the eco-tourism enterprise “Ambienturë.”

Dr. Muhammad Maaruf Ali is a renowned electronic engineering scholar with over 200 publications, specializing in image coding, fractal image coding, location-based services, GSM/UMTS, and advanced algorithms.

Dr. Ali holds a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from King’s College London and serves as Head of Research for the Faculty of Computer Science & IT at University Metropolitan Tirana, Doctoral Director of Studies at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, and Adjunct Faculty at the American Academy of Technology Tirana.

A Chartered Engineer and Professional Enginee, Dr. Ali is also a Senior Member of IEEE and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
