We recently hosted the Circular Construction Workshop & Virtual Tour at EPOKA University! 🏗️♻️

​On 28 April 2026, the Civil Engineering Department brought together academia and industry to explore sustainable building practices. A major highlight was our international collaboration with Odisee University of Applied Sciences, featuring insightful presentations.

​The event sparked fantastic conversations, bridging practical industry expertise with innovative academic research.

On 7 April, the Department of Civil Engineering had the pleasure of hosting UK-based software engineer, educator, and entrepreneur, Ergi Mira.

We explored the fascinating intersection of modern computing and physical engineering. From AI to seismic algorithms for earthquake risk assessment, the session highlighted how digital tools and data integration can reshape structural analysis and first response in the event of an earthquake. 🏗️💻

A huge thank you to Ergi for sharing his expertise and giving our students such valuable insight into the future of engineering technology!

⏪ Throwback to 23rd of January, when our second-year Architecture and Civil Engineering students went head-to-head in the Building Materials Competition, organised by Dr. Anila Xhahysa. 🏗️📐
 
It was fantastic to see the distinct approaches of both disciplines on full display. A big congratulations to ARCH 2 on being announced as the overall winners! 🏆👏
We are incredibly proud of the practical knowledge, hard work, and innovation demonstrated by all our students.

Congratulations to our Master's students who successfully defended their theses on 18–19 February. 🎓

​The Department of Civil Engineering commends the quality of the research presented over the last two days. It takes a lot of hard work to reach this stage, and it was great to see it all come together.

📣 Open Lecture at EPOKA University

The Department of Civil Engineering recently hosted the open lecture “Lens on Tomorrow: Earthquake Engineering, Science & Education for Resilience”, delivered by Prof. Dr Radmila Salic Makreska from IZIIS.

👩‍🏫 Second- and third-year students explored key themes of resilience, seismic risks, and ongoing research projects supported by modern scientific facilities.

🤝 The event follows the newly signed MoU between EPOKA University and IZIIS, opening opportunities for academic exchanges, joint research, and shared training initiatives.

📘 Collaboration is already active: Zabedin Neziri, a PhD candidate at IZIIS, is currently completing a two-month research stay at EPOKA under the supervision of Dr Anila Xhahysa.

🎓 After several weeks of presentations and discussion, thesis defence season has officially concluded at the Department of Civil Engineering. Our MSc students demonstrated their hard work and research across a range of topics, marking an important stage in their academic journey.
