APEL-WB Study Visit and Consortium Meeting Held at the University of Akureyri

From 22 to 25 September 2026, APEL-WB activities took place at the University of Akureyri in Iceland, combining a study visit and training on prior learning assessment with a consortium meeting.

The training on 22 and 23 September focused on the principles, process and role of Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) in higher education. Participants explored APEL procedures, portfolio preparation, assessment methods and quality assurance. Practical sessions included reviewing a mock candidate’s portfolio and preparing questions for an assessment interview.

The consortium meeting, held on 24 and 25 September, covered project updates and upcoming work. Discussions included the next steps for WP2 and its needs analysis, the work of the Quality Meeting Committee, dissemination activities and future project events.

The activities provided an opportunity to develop practical understanding of APEL and coordinate the project partners’ ongoing work.

On 2 September 2026, representatives of the University of Patras, LOGOS University College, and the University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi” met online to discuss preparations for the upcoming Knowledge Exchange Workshop Training, scheduled for March 2027.

The workshop will focus on knowledge exchange and training related to distance learning and prior experiential learning.

The APEL-WB General Management Committee (GMC) met online, bringing together project partners from across the Western Balkans and Europe.

During the meeting, partners discussed and approved Deliverable D6.3 – Organization of the First APEL Round Table (APRT), reviewed project communication, dissemination and visibility activities, and exchanged updates regarding continuous reporting through the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.

The meeting provided an important opportunity to coordinate project activities and strengthen collaboration among partners, contributing to the advancement of Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) in higher education across the Western Balkans.

We would like to thank all partners for their continued commitment and valuable contribution to the successful implementation of the project.

Përfaqësues të Universitetit të Prishtinës dhe Kolegjit Universitar LOGOS zhvilluan një takim pune për përgatitjen e Newsletter-it të parë dhe diskutimin e aktiviteteve të diseminimit. Takimi u fokusua në përmbajtjen, strukturën dhe prezantimin e aktiviteteve dhe arritjeve kryesore të projektit, me synim informimin e partnerëve, palëve të interesit dhe publikut të gjerë mbi progresin dhe rezultatet e deritanishme.

Newsletter-i i parë i APEL-WB do të shërbejë si një mjet i rëndësishëm për promovimin e aktiviteteve, rezultateve dhe ndikimit të projektit.

📢 Working on the first APEL-WB Newsletter!

Representatives of the University of Prishtina and LOGOS University College held a working meeting to coordinate the preparation of the first project newsletter and discuss dissemination activities. The meeting focused on the content, structure, and presentation of the project’s key activities and achievements, aiming to inform partners, stakeholders, and the wider public about the project’s progress and outcomes.

The first APEL-WB Newsletter will serve as an important tool for promoting the project’s activities, results, and impact.

APEL Round Table in Sarajevo 🇧🇦

Within the framework of the APEL-WB project (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning in the Western Balkans), the Round Table was successfully held at the University of Sarajevo, bringing together project partners and key stakeholders from the region.

The meeting gathered representatives from higher education institutions, policymakers, and labour market actors, creating an important space for dialogue and exchange of experiences on:

🔹 models for the recognition of prior learning (APEL)
🔹 institutional practices and international experiences
🔹 challenges and opportunities for advancing APEL in the region

This activity contributes to the development of more flexible and inclusive approaches in higher education, promoting lifelong learning and strengthening regional cooperation in the Western Balkans.
