🗣️ Mastering English Vowel Pronunciation 🗣️

English vowels can be challenging due to their multiple sounds. There are five vowels (A, E, I, O, U) but they produce around 20 different sounds. Vowels can be short, long, or diphthongs (combinations of vowel sounds).

Short Vowels:

/æ/ as in "cat"
/ɛ/ as in "bed"
/ɪ/ as in "sit"
/ɒ/ as in "hot"
/ʌ/ as in "cup"
Long Vowels:

/iː/ as in "see"
/uː/ as in "blue"
/ɑː/ as in "car"
/ɔː/ as in "more"
/ɜː/ as in "bird"
Diphthongs:

/aɪ/ as in "my"
/eɪ/ as in "say"
/ɔɪ/ as in "boy"
/aʊ/ as in "now"
/oʊ/ as in "go"
