Embarking on my ACCA studies with I.W. School of Accountancy has been a good experience for me. In the beginning, I was intimated by the exams as they have been proven to be difficult. However, this has pushed me to work and to be diligent. After my first exam, I was uncertain about my results, but I was successful because of the class preparations and revision classes. The level of teaching did not diminish during our on-line classes due to COVID-19. Instead, the tutor motivated us even more to complete the ACCA exams and diligently gave much of his time to ensure that we were prepared. My performance in the exams has been great so far, with I.W. School of Accountancy, and I am looking forward to finishing my final exam this year successfully.

In July 2020, CPA Canada announced that it had made the decision to wind down delivery of the CPA pre-certification programmes in the Caribbean as part of a decision to discontinue offering the CPA certification programme outside Canada and Bermuda. This development impacts candidates in the Caribbean currently enrolled in CPA Canada pre-certification programmes and means that those whose membership is in good standing will have until May 2022 to complete the education requirements of the programme and successfully write the Common Final Exam (CFE).

In the interest of mutual co-operation and commitment to supporting students of the profession, CPA Canada and ACCA have agreed to an exemption route for CPA students who may wish to transfer to the ACCA Qualification program. ACCA will recognise prior learning from the CPA Preparatory Courses and modules completed at the University of the West Indies resulting in exemption of the first nine examinations of the ACCA Qualification.

Please note that these exemptions are applicable to CPA Canada International students only who will be graduating from 2020 onwards. Therefore, CPA Canada domestic students domiciled in Canada and Bermuda will not be eligible for these exemptions.
