You are rocking the socks, but have laughed at, excluded and provided an unsafe environment for individuals with down syndrome?. How have you, in the past treated Matthew, Franklin, Carl(rubberman) and others with Downs? It is that attitude which needs to change. Not just wear the socks.

I am thankful to BUDA Corp. for your generous donation to the families of the students with special needs in Barbuda. Together, we gifted.....
2 specialized bath chairs/ recliners
2 safety XL play pens and
Specialized dental care supplies, (dental supplies also to babies under 2) at the community first Friday clinic)
We we also planned to give a stander walker, but we lost Jayce before he received that gift.
There was a need and they happily met the need. Thank you, thank you Team BUDA and may God continue to bless your organization as you work to help others.

On Thursday November 30th. 2023 we lost one of my students. The death of a child with special needs is difficult for many reasons. They can't say they hurt. Their pain and needs we sometimes do not understand or never understand. The parents loss is beyond comprehension. Sleep in peace Jayce. I feel so much for his mom, Andine.

I thank God for the time We had together, reading stories, trying to get him to label objects, building locks, zipping zippers, fastening snaps, painting rainbows and mr. Potato head was his fav.... He was an angel who came to show us unconditional love. He was full of s***k, but he was bossy. He was 6 going on 15.

I worked with him from sept.until a week before his passing. When I entered the house, he hustle over (creeping) reached up for me to put him on the chair; then he patted the cushion beside him for me to sit. He loved learning. I know you are an angel in running around and telling the rest that you are in charge now. Rest in Peace Jayce.

What people do not understand, it that having a visible disability does not mean you should not be stimulated and/or participate in educational programs. I am glad I followed my heart to start the Home Education Learning Program (HELP).

Message me ASAP to arrange for delivery so that they can be brought to Barbuda. I appreciate all the help. If you know of a great interactive for this population add it to your gift. WITH THANKS.

Not knowing (ignorance) is major part of why children with special and exceptional needs are not considered in the planning of all services in Antigua and Barbuda. However when there is an opportunity to learn, individuals in the positions of "power" refuse to just listen and learn. Arrogance and will not solve the problems, ask questions, have conversations with those who know.

Since September I have embarked on a journey to provide educational stimulation and interaction with the children in Barbuda with special needs and have never had the opportunity to engage with guided educational experiences. The name of my program is HELP........Home Education Learning Program. tend school for several reasons.
1. 80% of these children I work with are NON-verbal
2. Children do not have wheel chairs or chairs that are appropriate.
3. No wheel chair accessible transportation
4. No wheelchair accessible bathrooms
5. No private changing area
6. No adequate screening and evaluation, and follow up from ministry of Education.
7. No trained staff at school (Speech and language therapist, physio or occupational therapists, teacher and teacher assistant for children with special and developing needs).
8. No COMPREHENSIVE planning for this population.

I am about doing and not talking.

Children with Autism, who may be non verbal and are challenged to communicate, need a simple way to express their feelings. Teachers and care givers need help to learn how to set the stage and communicate effectively and increase learning successfully. Message me or leave a comment.
