During Covid-19 pandemic many of us are facing challenges that can be stressful, overwhelming, but no worries you aren't alone.
Here are a few things that you can do to cope with depression:
Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including those on social media. It’s good to be informed, but hearing about the pandemic constantly can be upsetting. Consider limiting news to just a couple of times a day and disconnecting from phone, tv, and computer screens for a while.
Take care of your body.
Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate.
Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals.
Exercise regularly.
Get plenty of sleep.
Avoid excessive alcohol, to***co, and substance use.
Continue with routine preventive measures (such as vaccinations, cancer screenings, etc.) as recommended by your healthcare provider.
Get vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine when available.
Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy.
Connect with others. Talk with people you trust, about your concerns and how you are feeling.
Connect with your community- or faith-based organizations. While social distancing measures are in place, try connecting online, through social media, or by phone or mail.

Some of you are probably old hands at online learning. But those of you that probably have a bit of adjusting to virtual learning. Here are a few ideas that might help you:
1. Get organized. Find out exactly how your classes are going to be delivered. Will they be live webinars that you have to watch at a fixed time, or will they be recorded to enable you to watch at a time that suits you?
2. Use a google calendar to set alerts and an easy-to-use task management platform like Trello to help you keep an eye on all your appointments and deadlines.
3. Try not to multitask. Not everyone sees eye to eye on multitasking - some people think it's a positive skill whereas others feel it slows you down. But when it comes to getting your work done quickly and efficiently, we're against it. I know it's tempting when studying and working online to have one tab open for your projects and another open with your favourite social media or entertainment channel. But this just means whatever you're doing will take twice as long, and your work will be prone to errors at the point where you were distracted. Maybe try sticking to one task, or monotasking, using the Pomodoro method. This means you can reward yourself with five minutes on Facebook for every 25 minutes you spent focusing on your studies.
4. It's a good idea to take some notes while you're listening. Note-taking helps you process information more deeply so you're more likely to understand it and remember it later.
5. Try and make a schedule and stick to it. Remember to keep yourself healthy in body and mind. Like doing exercise and having healthy food.
6. Remember to take it easy on yourself though, no matter how diligent you are you need to let your hair down some days to help deal with the stress of trying to carry on with life while practising social distancing.
