1️⃣ Flay: to criticize someone very severely.
➡️ He flayed the government for not moving fast enough on economic reform.
To strip the skin off (a co**se or carcass).
➡️ The hunter flayed the rabbit and prepared it for cooking.
2️⃣ Demeanor: the way someone behaves, dresses, speaks etc that shows what their character is like.

Whoever digs a pet for others will fall into it himself.
Means that one who attempts to deceive, harm, ensnare or trap someone or something, their plan often backfires and ends up harming them instead.
