What is Nuclear Medicine Technology?
Nuclear medicine differs from other diagnostic imaging technologies because it determines the presence of disease on the basis of metabolic changes rather than changes in organ structure. Nuclear medicine technologists operate equipment that detects and maps a radioactive drug within a patient’s body to create diagnostic images.
The images are then produced on a computer screen or on film for diagnosis by the health care team. By administering these radiopharmaceuticals to patients they can monitor the characteristics and functions of tissues or organs in which the drugs localize.

How do 3D Glasses work?
To begin, it helps to know what you’re looking at. A 3D image is one that has two different perspectives of the same image superimposed on each other. This is what is known as an anaglyphic image. By using 3D anaglyphic glasses, each eye filters chromatically opposite colors (typically red and cyan) to create a 3D eye-popping picture. That’s why 3D glasses have two different coloured lenses. But 3D anaglyphic glasses aren’t entirely to credit – it’s your brain that’s doing most of the work!
Have you ever closed one eye while looking through a pair of binoculars? By closing one eye you can see a slightly-shifted perspective than if you had both eyes open. Each eye sees two different images, but because your eyes are only set about two inches apart they’re still close enough that the images seem to “merge” into one. This enables you to judge distances, and grants you proper depth perception towards your surroundings. It’s the same process with 3D glasses.
When you look at a 3D image through 3D glasses, your brain is using a technique called stereoscopy to create the illusion of depth. Remember how two images from two different perspectives formed a single anaglyphic image? Your brain takes these two separate images and processes them so that the image appears to “pop” out. 3D glasses merely recreate what your own eyes do on a daily basis! It’s almost like you’re tricking your own brain!

What is a Solar Storm?
A solar storm is a term used for atmospheric effects felt on Earth from certain events that occur on the Sun. You probably think of the Sun as a bright shining light that never changes. In reality, it's an unbelievably huge ball of molten gases that's constantly in flux. Solar storms occur when the Sun emits huge bursts of energy in the form of solar flares and coronal mass ejections. These phenomena send a stream of electrical charges and magnetic fields toward the Earth at a speed of about three million miles per hour.
When a solar storm strikes the Earth, it often produces a dazzling “northern lights" display in parts of the atmosphere that can be seen in areas close to the Arctic Circle. Solar storms can also disrupt satellites and various forms of electronic communications. Solar storms start with a huge explosion on the Sun. These explosions called solar flares can be about as powerful as billions of nuclear bombs.
Solar flares usually go hand-in-hand with the release of huge streams of charged plasma that travel at millions of miles per hour. These streams are called coronal mass ejections, or CMEs. When CMEs hit the Earth, they can cause geomagnetic storms that disrupt satellites and electrical power grids.
