For more than 25 years, American University of Sharjah (AUS) has promoted ideas, research and creative work that have inspired development and change, driven by our core belief that tomorrow matters. AUS was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed AlQasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The embodiment of His Highness’ vision, AUS is a place where students are nurtured and encouraged to excel academically, thrive socially, celebrate their cultural diversity, and have a positive influence in their communities. Located in University City, Sharjah, AUS is a not-for-profit, independent, institution of higher education formed on the American model. We offer 28 majors and 45 minors at the undergraduate level, 15 master's degrees programs and four PhD programs through the College of Architecture, Art and Design; the College of Arts and Sciences; the College of Engineering; and the School of Business Administration. These programs are designed to meet the challenges of a competitive and dynamic business and industrial environment.

Our final spotlight for Emirati Women's Month, we celebrate Shaikha Alnoman, a Magna Cum Laude graduate in Chemical Engineering from AUS. During her time at CEN, she was named in the Dean's List seven times and the Chancellor's List three times, and received the CEN Undergraduate Excellence Award for the highest CGPA among graduating Chemical Engineering students. Beyond academics, Shaikha served as Vice President of the Society of Women Engineers and pursued her passions for Arabic poetry, public speaking, and adventure, including three skydives.🙌🏼

For Shaikha, this year's theme means that every challenge should leave us more resilient, and every opportunity should push us further to better serve our country's future. Her message to fellow Emirati women is to dream boldly, pursue every opportunity, and never underestimate what they are capable of.✨

Next in our Emirati Women's Month spotlight is Dr. Salma Thani, Assistant Professor of Gulf Studies at AUS. Her research explores the history, culture, heritage and contemporary development of the Gulf States, particularly the UAE, with a focus on national identity, oral history and cultural and sports diplomacy.
For Dr. Thani, this year's theme is about resilience, learning from every experience and moving forward with confidence to become stronger along the way. Her message to fellow Emirati women is to continue the path laid before them, believe in what they have to offer, and contribute meaningfully to society.✨

Next in our Emirati Women's Month spotlight is Munira Alawadi, a fifth year student double majoring in Physics and Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences.
For Munira, this year's theme means Emirati women can overcome challenges, learn from them, and come out stronger than before. Her message to fellow Emirati women is to not be afraid to try new things, to believe they can do anything, and to remember they're made to be great.
Munira's journey blends science and art in equal measure, from astrophysics research to interdisciplinary work bridging music and data, alongside her love for piano and cello. Her curiosity across disciplines is a reminder that Emirati women can excel in every field they pursue.🙌🏼✨

First up is Maryam Alsaeed, a fourth year Accounting student in the School of Business Administration.

For Maryam, this year's theme reflects how Emirati women are being heard more and their accomplishments are becoming more visible. Her message to her compatriots is stay true to themselves, follow their hearts, and do what makes them happy.🫶🏼

To optimize multi million dollar equipment and maximize scientific output, the Materials Research Center at American University of Sharjah has introduced a non monetary, tokenized credit system.

This internal framework replaces traditional booking with a data driven model. Implemented by a team led by Dr. Mehmet Egilmez, Director of the Materials Research Center and Professor of Physics at CAS, alongside Dr. Ali Alnaser, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Infrastructure and Professor of Physics, the system standardizes equipment usage based on real world operational costs. It provides fair access for researchers, eliminates scheduling conflicts, and supports long term self sustainability for lab facilities.

Integrated with LabArchives, the platform generates a verifiable utilization trail. It gives researchers live visibility into instrument availability while helping administrators track equipment downtime and plan budgets effectively.
