Quadrilateral is just a four sided figure. If you are asked to find the area with 4 sides, you may not be able to find. If an additional condition is given on a quadrilateral then this unknown quadrilateral will be converted into a known quadrilateral like Square, rectangle whose area can be found. In a quadrilateral if one diagonal is given which is an additional condition then we can find the area of the quadrilateral by Heron's formula.. This small thought may help class 9 students.
