VISS MUN

Vera Shikh was Head of Press during VISSMUN 2016.
She is an IB2 student has a great interest in photography (hence convenient position). Other hobbies and interests include: filmmaking, creative writing, SFX makeup and confronting responsibilities.
In the future she plans to study English or media and hopes to pursue a career in the film industry.
"I was a delegate in one of the General Assemblies during my first MUN and was confused most of the time. I ended up not being able to speak at all, resorting to passing notes that weren't funny at all. Since then I've realised that I enjoy the 'behind-the-scenes' aspect of the conference much more."
She hopes everyone enjoyed the conference we all worked so hard on and will come back next year!

Victoria International School Sharjah (VISS) Al Taawun St - Sharjah

Meet Sid Mehra- Head of Logistics and delegate of the Russian Federation
He is in IB2 and can be described as a hyper-aggressive member of the MUN and has earned this reputation due to his inability to back down from a challenge. He enjoys heated debates and has stated that "Mother Russia will strike down the opposition *cough* Germany *cough*!"
Apart from having lots of MUN experience, he is an artist, a tech-savvy individual, a Sci-fi fan and all round geek. He won’t hesitate to tell you the difference between Star Trek and Star Wars if you call them the same.
In the future, Sid hopes to pursue a higher education in animation to hopefully work for large animation firms such as Pixar or Dreamworks.
“My first MUN was a real blast. I laughed so hard at a note that I had to be dismissed from the hall to regain my composure. Then I proceeded to end the ties with my allies and declare war on them.”
As someone who believes that we must enjoy what we choose to do, he hopes that this MUN will be an entertaining and informative experience for everyone participating.

Hi everyone! With under a month to go until the event, the pressure is building and we hope you guys are as excited as we are!

Meet Shlok Asrani - Head of Delegate Training and Core Team member at VISSMUN 2016!
Apart from debating and the MUN itself, he loves cricket, has interests in entrepreneurship and looks forward to pursue his higher education in the same. He is an enthusiastic individual and goes into every task or competition with the intention and aim to win, and believes, that winning is extremely important.
"My first MUN was pretty meh, I asked for a follow up to say thank you to the Swedish delegation for answering to the question, I was on fire wasn’t I? Also, I’m delegate of Germany for the conference, and am looking forward to having a heated debating experience with a few other countries that I expect to attack us *cough…RUSSIA…cough*."
As a fellow IB student, he "feels the delegates pain", and since he believe enjoying whatever you do is important, he will make sure the MUN is an entertaining learning experience for all delegates!

Meet our VISSMUN2016 Chair - Georgina Mashlan!
Besides being the chair this conference, she has been helping out with the organisation and is a core team member.
She is in IB2 and is a HUGE fan of skiing, and is "a giant nerd" and is very much into the sciences because they are "so cool!" She is also a very big fan of different cultures and religions. She loves the MUN and the debating and political aspect of it.
"My very first MUN I was so nervous when I went and asked my first question! I think I almost fainted I was shaking! Now though, I have done so much public speaking that I'm used to it."
She really hopes that the MUN goes well and is successful.

It is a new year and VISS MUN 2016 is fast approaching!
The delegates are currently doing workshops in order to do their best during the conference on January 21st and 22nd.
