It’s so easy to step in with the answer when we see the struggle or already know the solution. But when we pause, listen, and ask instead of tell, we give tamariki something far more powerful than the right answer. We provide them with the chance to think, wonder, and discover for themselves.

Inquiry-based learning isn’t about what we can teach; it’s about what tamariki can figure out when we trust their process.
As kaiako, our questions can open doors to deeper thinking, problem-solving, and confidence.

Because our goal isn’t to have all the answers.
It’s to create spaces where tamariki realise they already hold them.

When we protect play, we protect childhood itself.

Play isn’t a break from learning. It IS learning.

It’s where imagination, language, social skills, and problem-solving all begin to take shape.

As leaders and educators, we have a responsibility to create environments where play is valued, not rushed.
Because when play thrives, so do our tamariki. 🌿

Are you really supporting your ECE team’s well-being?

When educators feel safe, heard, and supported, everything improves: team morale, communication, retention, and ultimately, the quality of care for children.

Take a moment to reflect:
💭 Do your staff feel comfortable speaking up?
💭 Are they truly getting breaks?
💭 Do they see you modelling balance?

Strong teams start with supported leaders.

💡 6 in 10 leaders told me staff wellbeing and burnout are the biggest barriers to retention in Early Years.

When educators are stretched too thin, it impacts not only their health but also the quality and consistency of care children receive.

Burnout can look different in every setting. Long hours from staffing shortages, lack of support, or simply the emotional demands of the role.

✨ The good news? When leaders put wellbeing at the centre, teams are happier, more committed, and stay longer.

👉 I’d love to know: what’s the biggest wellbeing challenge in your setting right now? Share in the comments!

Struggling to keep great staff? You’re not alone. Turnover is one of the biggest challenges in Early Years but it doesn’t have to be.

Here are 3 ways to stop the revolving door ⬇️

✨ Build a positive culture where staff feel valued and heard.
📚 Invest in professional growth through CPD and training.
💙 Prioritize wellbeing support so your team can bring their best to work.

When your staff feel appreciated, supported, and inspired, they’re far more likely to stay loyal to your setting.
