Voted Best ELC UAE 2022 🏆 The nursery section at Little Land is for children under 2 1/2 years and is staffed by N.N.E.B./EYFS qualified teachers. The children are taught in a traditional nursery environment, with a schedule that includes play with traditional toys such as construction Duplo, stickle bricks, puzzles, cars and trains as well as introducing crafts such as play dough, painting and coloring (freestyle). More physical activities include sand and water play, music and movement, brain gym and exploration of the environment,

The Montessori section is for children who are over 2 1/2 years old in September of the academic year. Montessori is a system of Nursery, Primary and Secondary education devised by Dr. Maria Montessori in the 1950s. She developed a series of equipment and a method of teaching to maximize each child's physical and psychological potential at any stage of their development. In the class, the children are encouraged to complete activities once started and to take responsibility for their classroom. This is done in a fun and child-friendly way. The Montessori classroom is divided into six areas: art, practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics and culture, which includes, geography, nature and science. All of our teachers have either Early Years or Montessori teaching qualifications and our assistant teachers are also encouraged to study nursery teaching methods. We are proactive in providing continuing education for all our staff, either by hosting courses at the nursery or facilitating staff to attend recognized study days. Our vision is to provide an environment that fosters a child's self confidence, independence and full potential; creating and developing the leaders of tomorrow.

This is what community really means to us.

None of us has all the answers. We are parents, educators and specialists, but first of all, we are human. We all have questions, we all have experiences to share, and none of us should ever feel that we are figuring it all out alone.

That is why mornings like this are so valuable.

We bring experts like Adam into Little Land to share their knowledge, but just as importantly, we bring our community together. Parents share their experiences, teachers share what they see every day, questions are asked, conversations happen, and we all learn from one another.

This is childhood at its best.

Water activities outdoors, little hands collecting leaves, pouring, mixing, exploring and creating.

It may look like simple play, but there is so much happening here, Practical Life, independence, imagination and a growing appreciation for the natural world around them.

Montessori at its best, purposeful, joyful and wonderfully simple.

Watch until the end, because this is Montessori in its most beautiful form. 🌿

One of the misconceptions we often hear about Montessori is that children are always expected to work alone.

But Montessori is not about isolation. It is about giving children the freedom to choose meaningful work; independently and together.

Watch these children closely.

Notice how naturally they come together. How they observe one another. How they wait for their turn. How they ask to have an opportunity. How one child makes space for another.

There is no adult directing every interaction. So much of the learning is happening between the children themselves.

This is where we see patience, communication, respect, confidence and a real sense of community developing, not because we have told children to practise these skills, but because the environment gives them the opportunity to live them.

Sometimes the most beautiful Montessori moments are the ones we simply stand back and allow to unfold.

Your child’s first day starts with you.

Starting nursery or returning after a long break can bring all the emotions, for children and for us as parents.

One of the most helpful things to remember is that young children often borrow our emotional regulation. Before they can fully calm and reassure themselves, they look to the trusted adults around them for cues: Am I safe? Is this okay? Can I manage this?

So on that first morning:

Keep your words simple and confident.
Try not to make the goodbye too long.
Acknowledge their feelings without trying to make them disappear.
Remind them that you will come back.
And even if you’re feeling emotional too, let them borrow your calm.

Our job, as the adults around them, is to hold that feeling with confidence and help them discover: I can do this. I am safe here. My parents always comes back.

And remember, settling is not something we expect a child to do alone. It’s something families and educators navigate together.

The way we speak to children matters. And the way we listen matters even more.

Training at Little Land isn’t simply about learning what to do. It’s about continually deepening our understanding of children, their development, their emotions, their behaviour and the messages they may not yet have the words to express.

As part of our team training, we explored the principles behind How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk, looking closely at how the language we use can build connection, cooperation and trust.

Because when we understand why a child is behaving in a certain way, we can respond differently.

We can listen before correcting.
Connect before directing.
And give children the respect of feeling truly heard.

Great educators never stop learning, because understanding children more deeply changes how we show up for them every day.

Our second Mandarin session

Children learn language most naturally when it becomes part of their everyday world, hearing familiar words and phrases repeated through play, routines, songs and meaningful moments throughout the day.

At Little Land, Mandarin isn’t only something that happens during a “lesson”. We create opportunities for children to hear, use and enjoy the language naturally, building familiarity and confidence over time.
