كيف يمكن لتعلّم لغة جديدة أن يغيّر طريقة تفكيرك في التصميم؟

بالنسبة إلى الدكتور أنطوان أبي عاد، الأستاذ المساعد في جامعة زايد، لم تقتصر دراسة اللغة اليابانية على اكتساب لغة جديدة، بل أعادت تشكيل نظرته إلى الحروف والتصميم الطباعي.

ومن خلال استكشاف الروابط بين نظامَي الكتابة العربي والياباني، اكتشف مقاربات جديدة لتصميم الحروف والتكوين والتواصل البصري، ليؤكد أن الإلهام كثيراً ما ينبع من رؤية الأفكار المألوفة بمنظور مختلف.

How can learning another language influence the way you design?

For Antoine AbiAad, Associate Professor at Zayed University, studying Japanese didn't just teach him a new language, it transformed the way he thinks about typography.

By drawing parallels between Arabic and Japanese writing systems, he discovered new ways of approaching lettering, composition, and visual communication, proving that inspiration often comes from seeing familiar ideas through a different lens.

من خلال المنحوتات والتركيبات الفنية والورق المصنوع يدوياً والخزف والتصوير الفوتوغرافي وغيرها من الوسائط، يستكشف المعرض العلاقة بين الذاكرة والمكان والهوية. وتتحول المواد اليومية إلى أعمال تحمل حكايات شخصية وجماعية، وتدعو الزوّار إلى التأمل في الانتماء والتحول، وكيف تواصل تجاربنا تشكيل من نكون.

من جامعة زايد إلى قاعات العرض، تواصل سلمى المنصوري مسيرتها الفنية الملهمة، مدفوعةً بالإبداع والفضول وروح الاستكشاف، ومنطلقةً في ممارستها من التجربة والتساؤل والبحث عن آفاق جديدة.

Step inside Who I Become, a solo exhibition by Zayed University alumna and multidisciplinary artist Salmah Al Mansoori.

Through sculpture, installation, handmade paper, ceramics, photography, and more, the exhibition explores the relationship between memory, place, and identity. Everyday materials are transformed into works that carry personal and collective stories, inviting viewers to reflect on belonging, transformation, and the ways our experiences continue to shape who we become.

From Zayed University to the gallery, Salmah Al Mansoori's artistic journey continues to inspire through a practice rooted in creativity, curiosity, and exploration.
