The OFW life is a hard life! Yes, you have a chance to earn more; but you're far away from your loved ones, in a place where you have little to no friends, participating in a culture you're only beginning to understand. So here are my three pieces of advice for those who plan on working abroad:

1️⃣ Plan how you'll come home. Write down a list of your debts if any, upcoming expenses, and other goals, and then set a deadline for when you'll accomplish all of these and begin making your way back home.

2️⃣ Get your family together, present your plans, and tell them you'll only be able to achieve these if you work together -- which means no unnecessary splurges and having transparency in expenses.

3️⃣ Love your family more than any annual vacation or fiesta. Spending for them is NOT the only way to say "I love you". Having enough for the future shows your love in a more powerful way. This is also not the time to try and convince others that you've made it in life.
