Al Barsha South - Dubai GEMS World Academy - Dubai (GWA) is a Nursery to Grade 12 international school for young world citizens; a school where students benefit from an education beyond any single national curriculum. Established in 2008 as a member of the GEMS Network of schools, GWA currently hosts over 1500 students from over 80 nationalities. We view our multicultural community as a source of learning as we develop an understanding of what makes people different, while celebrating our similarities in this increasingly connected world. Students have access to a broad range of learning experiences facilitated by a multicultural and multilingual international staff of educators. GWA is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to offer all three IB programs - the Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program and Diploma Program - to students aged 3 - 18. The IB Learner Profile and GEMS Core Values shape our character expectations as we aim to develop international mindedness in all members of our community; students, staff and parents alike. GWA is also a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and was accredited during the 2012-2013 school year as yet another mark of a quality. Located on Al Khail Road in the Al Barsha South area of Dubai, GWA is conveniently located just five minutes from the Meadows, Springs and Lakes developments and 10 minutes from the Mall of the Emirates and Arabian Ranches. The large campus offers space for a variety of sports facilities including a 400m rubberized athletics track, tennis courts and 50m Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 630-seat auditorium and a planetarium.

Belonging, high expectations and genuine care - the marks of a truly exceptional IB education.

As GEMS World Academy, Dubai welcomes its new CEO/Principal, Heath Monk, he sets out an ambition for the year ahead: to be the school of choice for families in Dubai, where every student feels they belong, is challenged to achieve their very best and has the opportunity to discover their strengths and shape their future.

1,550 new teachers. 10,000+ educators. 112 nationalities. One GEMS family. 🇦🇪

GEMS Awareness Day 2026 marked a significant moment for our global education community, bringing together our newest colleagues as they begin their journey with GEMS. It was a celebration of the scale, diversity and shared values that unite us and a meaningful welcome to the educators who will help shape the future of every child.

Ultimately, it is our people who make GEMS a family. Their passion, commitment and care are at the heart of everything we do. As we celebrate the Year of the Family, we are reminded that family comes first: supporting one another, celebrating our shared achievements and creating a community where everyone feels they belong.

A particularly powerful moment came when our Chairman and Founder, Sunny Varkey, called on GEMS teachers to stand and give a one-minute applause in recognition of the leadership of the UAE, a heartfelt expression of gratitude, respect and pride for the country we are privileged to call home.

Our strength is in our people, and in what we achieve when we come together as one GEMS family.

Family first. Shared values. One purpose. One GEMS. 🇦🇪👏

✨

Yesterday was an incredible celebration of learning, creativity and community. Our students came together to share their voices, passions and ideas through the PYP Exhibition; expressing themselves through inquiry, presentations, performances and even original songs. 🎶

Throughout this journey, students developed essential communication, thinking and social skills, learning how to collaborate, problem-solve, reflect and connect with others in meaningful ways.

As they approach the end of their PYP journey, the exhibition was not only a showcase of learning, but a celebration of growth, resilience and the power of student agency. We are so proud of every learner and grateful to our families, teachers and wider community for coming together to support and celebrate this milestone. 🌍💫
