DESS College (formerly DESC) is a British curriculum school and the sister school of Dubai English Speaking School (DESS), which prides itself on being the oldest British school in Dubai. Situated in Academic City with modern and spacious facilities, DESS College was established in 2005 to meet the needs of our parents and their children requiring secondary British education up to Year 13. We place ourselves at the forefront of educational development, but at the same time maintaining traditional and core values. We are consistently rated 'Outstanding' by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and the British Schools Overseas Inspectorate (BSO). BSO described the College as “an outstanding school that meets the requirements of the British School Overseas Standards. Students receive an excellent education and, as a result of high quality teaching, students make outstanding progress from their starting points. Despite such high quality outcomes, there is no trace of complacency anywhere in the college.”
We believe that DESS College students benefit from personalised pastoral care. Our House system offers many opportunities in terms of participation and leadership for students to be able to form an identity as part of a community of learners. The House names, Desert, Earth, Sky and Coast, which our students decided on, very much relate to the landscape upon which Dubai exists. The House colours are orange for Desert, green for Earth, purple for Sky and blue for Coast. At DESS College, we provide an excellent all-round experience for students aged 11-18 years, both within and beyond the classroom. Our extensive extracurricular programme offers a wide range of opportunities that enable our students to be active participants, work effectively with others and develop their leadership skills. In 2017 DESS College expanded to include a purpose built Sixth Form facility, where students study A level and BTEC qualifications whilst having access to new state-of-the-art facilities, study area, chillout lounge, food court, a health & fitness centre and a Zen garden. Additions in 2017 featured a full sized grass rugby pitch, a full sized grass football pitch, a grass training pitch and a championship netball court. The Time Zone is GMT +4 hours. DESC is open from Sunday to Wednesday 7:10am-3:30pm and on Thursday from 7:10am-1:45pm. Kindly note the weekend in Dubai is Friday and Saturday.
