Nearly all students have now had a chance to experience online schooling in some form. Whether they joined an online school like iCademy Middle East in Dubai, or participated in their brick-and-mortar school’s version of blended learning, students and families have now seen the benefits and challenges of learning at home first hand. At iCademy, we fully understand that online learning is NOT the perfect solution for every single student. However, there are several circumstances where online learning can provide much-needed benefits for students that they would struggle to get in a traditional setting. Online schooling may be the right choice for you and your family!

Online schooling can be an adjustment at any age, but for young students who need a lot of hands-on help, it can be particularly tricky. One of the coolest parts of my job is being the and Academic Chair of our school’s National Honors Society. Once a month, I get to meet with a group of high school students and teachers living all around the world (Morocco, UAE, USA, Japan, and Saudi Arabia, and me in Thailand) and discuss ways to make a difference. It’s awesome.

COVID made things weird but this group still managed to pull off organizing a project to help some of the laborers in the UAE. These are the people that built the country and the month of Ramadan can be a particularly hard time for them. This project was originally launched by one of our former students and the legacy continues! If you are in the UAE, please consider donating some items for the NHS Ramadan Charity drive.

UAE residents, we could really use your help. Our group of National Honors Society students has been gathering items to distribute this weekend in our annual Ramadan Box Project. If you live in the area and are able to donate items such as dates, biscuits, tang, milk powder, or hygienic items, we would be very grateful but more importantly, the laborers who work so hard to make Dubai an amazing city would be appreciative.
