Shahed Dergham, the youngest speaker at the UNESCO AI and Education Forum, discussed her team's innovative project from the Ada Lovelace Hackathon 2021.
Their initiative, DEREVe, promotes environmental awareness and recycling. Winning the Hackathon led Shahed to speak at the United Nations conference, emphasizing the creative potential of Syrian youth and the importance of sustainability.
Her journey highlights the transformative power of AI in addressing global challenges.
We are so honored to have Shahed as a community member at AI Club for the last 2 years, and excited to congratulate her for achieving 100% at high school this summer.

Aya Shabbar
AI researcher and engineer and a new-media artist, interested in probabilistic machine learning, model-based reinforcement learning and intersections with cognitive control, deep learning, and data science. Aya is currently a deep learning engineer at Peter Moss Leukaemia MedTech Research. She is also a member of the Syrian Women Academic Network (SWAN) as a part of Deutsch-Syrische Forschungsgesllschaft (DSFG).

Mr. Zuhair holds a Ph.D. degree in computing from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and master's degree in computer science and communication from the Arts, Science and Technology University (AUL) in Lebanon.
He has published a number of studies in topics related to computing like data science, NLP, graph analysis, machine learning, big data and recommender systems, in addition to two published books on network analysis.
Currently, he is a senior data scientist working in the telecom industry where he develops models for 'customer relationship management' to boost customer retention and loyalty.
