Marcel Wanders keynote on 14 March, 'On the Crossroads between Art and Design', marks the launch of the Pop Up Academy at Design Days Dubai. The brainchild of Esra Lemmens, a rising figure in the design industry, lecturer and ambassador of contemporary design, Pop Up Academy will coincide with the world's leading design events. Esra, who has also collaborated with Marcel Wanders on the exhibition, said "Designers organizing their own courses is a natural movement in design education since 'the school' and 'design practice' don't exist anymore. Pop Up Academy deals with these changes as, at the crossroads between art and design, the industry increasingly deals with made-to-measure concepts; so design education should reflect this, as well as the unique characteristics of each design event". POP UP ACADEMY
The Pop Up Academy is the idea of Esra Lemmens, Already familiar with the area, the ambassador of contemporary design has realized her vision of Art and Design education in a format that will align with leading world Design Events. Esra who has earned multiple degrees in Fine Art and Design over the past years, and has great experience in the industry as a lecturer and ambassador of contemporary design. The Pop Up Academy will take its place among leading world design events starting in Dubai. The launch of the first edition will take place on March 14th during Dubai Design Days 2016 and internationally acclaimed designer and inspiration Marcel Wanders will be kicking the launch off by delivering a commentary on collectible design and what it means to be at the crossroads of art and design at the event.
