Did you also look at the spine before you noticed the helmet? 👀

The first poster for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey features Agamemnon, commander of the Greek forces. But for medical students, he is not the most interesting part of the image.

The golden elements on his helmet clearly resemble the cervical spine. It looks impressive, but from an anatomical perspective, there are several interesting details.

🔹 Judging by their shape, they most closely resemble cervical vertebrae.

🔹 However, there appear to be around eight of them, while the human cervical spine always consists of seven vertebrae: C1–C7.

🔹 The distinctive features of the atlas (C1) and axis (C2) — the two most unusual cervical vertebrae — are also missing.

🔹 There is one more detail: in real anatomy, the lower cervical vertebrae become larger and more robust, while on the poster they appear to become smaller.

The designers probably were not aiming for anatomical accuracy. Instead, they used the spine as a powerful visual symbol — and it certainly looks impressive.

The learning path guides you step by step: you can see what you’ve completed, what comes next, and how much is left before you finish the topic. You no longer have to decide where to begin — just tap “Start” and follow the steps.
