Motherhood is not a job. It's not a role. It's a becoming.
We become our mothers. And then we become ourselves. And somewhere in between, we become everything to someone who will one day understand what it cost.
So today, I honor her. And I honor myself. And I honor every woman caught somewhere between exhaustion and devotion, wondering if she's doing it right.
You are.
We all are.
Happy Mother's Day to the ones who came before us, the ones beside us, and the ones we're raising to carry it forward.
This love
tired, messy, relentless
is our inheritance. And it's more than enough.
Send this to someone who needs to read this ❤️

What are your thoughts?
Today during the CAIE exams, I witnessed a very disturbing scene.
For the first time, I parked my car a little farther away and noticed several very young girls — hardly 6 or 7 years old — begging near the examination center. What surprised me even more was that almost every passing car was giving them money. Some people handed over small amounts, while a few even gave Rs.1000 notes. One student was distributing Rs.100 notes among 5-6 girls.
I asked him, “Why are you giving away so much money?”
He replied, “It’s exam day.”
Later in the afternoon, these same children could be seen standing at different locations across the city “working shifts,” often surrounded by their handlers.
The painful reality is that professional begging has become a full-fledged business model, especially in Karachi. And unfortunately, it continues to flourish because of our emotions, fears, and misplaced sympathy.
The children who should be in schools, holding books and building their future, are instead being used to earn money for exploitative networks. We do not even know where many of these children come from or how they are brought into this system.
Every single coin or note handed out on the streets may feel like kindness, but in reality, it often helps sustain this cycle of exploitation.
If we truly want to help:
• Support verified charities
• Sponsor education for deserving children
• Strengthen rehabilitation programs
• Raise awareness against child exploitation and organized begging
Education should not only give us degrees — it should also give us awareness and responsibility.
Please think about this side of the issue as well.
Thank you.
