The land on which the School is located was granted to the School by the Late Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
The Indian High School (IHS) is the first expatriate educational institution to be established in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 1957 at which point it was called Bharatiya Vidyalaya by Hemalaka Behn. The school was established in 1961 with a view to providing education to children of Indian expats. The school is recognized by the Ministry of Education, Dubai, and is permanently affiliated to the
