TO FIND OUT
what you’re capable of and to know your limits, you have to explore, discover and try new things.
Even though you couldn’t do something once, it doesn’t mean you can’t try it again.
Things may change, circumstances may differ, you may have developed.
➡️ Believe in opportunities,
➡️ Believe in possibilities,
➡️ Believe in change,
and most of all
✨BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!✨
Years ago I had a diving experience: it didn’t go well. I couldn’t equalise and my ears hurt a lot. (Even at a depth of 3 meters.) Since then I thought diving wasn’t for me.
Earlier this year my oldest son joined a diving course and obtained his PADI certificate. My husband suggested to go for a family diving holiday, and I wasn’t too excited at first. However, I would be ok to do snorkelling instead. I did some research and heard about special diving earplugs that would help with my ear problem. I believed it was worth trying.
So weeks before our trip, together with my others sons, I started studying for the PADI exam. It was quite a lot and with the current brain fog a bit challenging, BUT I pushed through and managed to finish almost all the sections. (Meanwhile motivating our sons to do the same.)
The first dive wasn’t what I hoped for. Equalising appeared still a challenge.
Not willing to give up just yet, I gave it another try. Slowly and taking my time going down and up again, descending at an even slower pace, I did better this time.
That wasn’t the only issue. Being meters underwater and not able to quickly go up if necessary (due to risk of decompression sickness) was a bit scary as well.
Trusting my gear, focusing on regular breathing and enjoying the beautiful environment helped me achieve.
After 4 days we were all certified divers 🤿
