Hooray to the first day of school !

International Day is an opportunity to bring fun into learning, and to bring the huge number of nationalities we have in school together, allowing the children to show each other about their heritage. Today was the Nursery's celebration of internationalism and intercultural awareness to date. This day was a "Red Day". Red, the colour of blood and fire, is associated with meanings of love, sensitivity, joy, strength, leadership and determination. It symbolizes action, confidence, and courage. The tiny tots looked stunning in their red outfits. The shades of red made the Kids feel bright, lively and cheerful. 🥰😘☺

Fire is magical to children. It emits warmth and light and is used in many types of celebrations around the world. However, fire also has a scary side. It can be dangerous when it is misunderstood or used inappropriately. For these reasons, children need to learn at an early age that fire is not for play. They also need to learn how to protect themselves if they come into contact with fire. This day we introduce children to the benefits and dangers of fire. We also provided child-friendly safety tips and information about firefighters and the important work they do.

Children are fascinated by vehicles and transportation activities for them can actually help teach important concepts like letters, numbers, cooperation, planning, and more.

A volcano experiment is an easy and fun project to do with children. Most of the materials are inexpensive and easily available. Here's how we did it.

Dinosaurs become an early interest for many young children. This interest often extends well into their years of elementary school. Some kids never lose their interest in dinosaurs, and later pursue a career in paleontology! This day, its all about dinosaurs, the children did dino fossil prints on playdough. They also loved exploring the Jurassic Park tuff tray and everyone helped together in completing the Dino puzzle.

Children's brains are influenced by both their genes and their environment. Babies are born ready to learn, with more than one million neural connections forming every second during the first few years of life. The early years are important, as how the brain grows is strongly influenced by what's happening in a child's environment and their interactions with the people around them.

Vision and hearing pathways develop first, followed by early language skills and higher cognitive functions. A child's vocabulary often quadruples between ages two and four. These connections become more complex over time as children grow, and influence brain development to create positive learning behaviours from an early age.

Research shows that children who participate in quality preschool programs are more likely to arrive at school equipped with the social, cognitive and emotional skills they need to help them to continue learning. These benefits extend well beyond primary school. Higher levels of educational success, employment and social skills have all been linked to moderate levels of participation in quality early childhood education.

By working with just a few of their peers towards a common goal, children will further develop their cooperation skills, conversation skills, and discover how to share and be fair. Through small group play, they will learn that they won't always get their way and sometimes have to compromise.

"Jack and the Beanstalk,'', the star of the story, Jack. stumbles onto magic beans that grow into a giant beanstalk. The sprouted beans send him on quite an adventure that includes a massive giant, a golden goose, and a majestic castle... the children loved the story and giggles to Jack's adventures. Today, they were challenged to build a tall beanstalk to reach the castle in the clouds using toilet rolls. They were also able to practice their counting skills by counting the leaves in the beanstalk, and how fun it was to make fairy soup? Indeed a day of fun and learning for our little ones!🤩
