5·18 민주화운동, also known as the Gwangju Uprising, was a democratic movement that took place in Gwangju in May 1980.

Students and citizens protested against the military government and demanded democracy and freedom. The military violently suppressed the protests, and many people were injured or killed.

Although the movement ended tragically, it became an important symbol of democracy and human rights in South Korea. Today, Koreans remember May 18 as a significant event in the‼️ country’s democratic history.‼️
