This photo is from years ago from a shoot in Mysore I did with the amazing π
I've posted nearly every picture from that day over the last 5 years, but never this one.
Mainly because I felt that a) my leg wasn't straight enough and perhaps more so because b) my thighs looked really big.
I could write alot more on the whys of all of that.... Maybe another day.
Really what I wanted to share was... What's changed today?
Absolutely nothing. I still think both of those things except I've just turned 39, so I no longer give a s**t.
Happy Birthday to me π

"I wish that the message of Peace may be experienced through Yoga, which is not only a culture of the body but the evolution of the Self." - Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: This. Is. Why. I. Practice.
Through the last two decades I feel these years have really been leading me deeper down a path of peace. The better I get to know myself the better equipped I am to spend more time in my peace.
Do things pull me out of that? Absolutely. But the skills I've cultivated to return back to that baseline of peace, and not carry the other 'stuff' around with me is what's kept me going.
This is my biggest takeaway. Not the asana, but the ability to choose peace again and again.
This is what I want to maintain for myself as much as possible. Again, that doesn't mean no challenges, trials or tribulations. It doesn't mean not occasionally picking up a sword and fighting for what you believe. What it is, is being able to do all that and then let go and come back to centre. I'll take my quiet life over anything!

No matter what your movement discipline is, it's good to remember that it's about progress not perfection.
As the wonderful Samuel Beckett said:
'Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.'
This is where the obstacle then becomes the path π and the practice, YOUR practice becomes even more beautiful π
