Dubai is a young city which has had an amazingly swift rise from sparse desert in the early 1990's to a bustling metropolis of over 3 million people less than two decades on. The religions of Hindu, Christianity and Muslim are prominent with only around 5% of the population practicing other religions. The official language of Dubai is Arabic but English is very commonly used, especially in business dealings.
