As part of our outstanding enrichment programme, students had the privilege of attending the latest Nicholson Lecture delivered by Dr Sharma, who shared fascinating insights into the world of Ultrasound Capsule Endoscopy and the future of medical innovation.

Alongside exploring this groundbreaking technology, Dr Sharma reflected on his personal journey to obtaining a PhD, offering students a valuable perspective on perseverance, curiosity, and lifelong learning.

Thank you, Dr Sharma, for an inspiring and meticulously presented lecture that encouraged our students to think deeply, ask questions, and explore the possibilities that lie at the intersection of science, technology, and human endeavour.

We recently hosted our annual Sports Awards Dinner, bringing together our incredible student-athletes to celebrate a year of Pride, Passion and Performance. The evening was a wonderful opportunity for our players to swap their jerseys for formal wear, step off the field, and enjoy some well-deserved time socialising and reflecting on the season's achievements as a sporting community.

Congratulations to all of the athletes who were nominated for an award, with a special mention to our major award winners of the night:

Team of the Year: U13 BSME Girls Squad
Sportsman of the Year: Sebastian (G9)
Sportswoman of the Year: Maya (G11)

Finally, a big thank you to our athletes, coaches, and families for making this season so unforgettable.

Congratulations to Aarnav, Adit, Fiona (Zifei), Ghali and Saachi on securing 1st Place in the Middle East in the prestigious Harvard Political Review Essay Competition.

Competing as a team, each student researched and wrote an individual political science essay, demonstrating exceptional critical thinking, global awareness and academic rigour.

Their research explored a range of complex contemporary issues, including freedom and democracy in America, the Supreme Court’s challenge to Trump’s tariffs, the impact of economic policies on elections in Argentina, and Harvard University’s dispute with the US government over the freezing of billions of dollars in funding. The students navigated unfamiliar topics, conducted extensive research and fact-checking, and collaborated remotely throughout the competition.

We are incredibly proud of this outstanding achievement, which reflects the intellectual curiosity, collaborative spirit and commitment to inquiry that are hallmarks of an IB education.

At NLCS Dubai, our IB Primary Years Programme encourages curiosity, inquiry and real-world connections. Grade 2 Careers Day brought this to life beautifully.

We were delighted to welcome parents into classrooms as they shared insights into their professions, answering thoughtful questions with generosity and enthusiasm. From exploring different career pathways to discovering how learning connects beyond the classroom, students engaged with genuine curiosity and excitement.

A wonderful celebration of community and the power of inquiry in action. Thank you to everyone involved!

Congratulations to our 98 Grade 10 students on the phenomenal success of their recent Personal Project Exhibition. The sheer variety of projects on display truly reflected the diverse passions of the cohort.
Visitors were treated to a massive array of insights, spanning from complex deep-dives into the world of finance and the future of AI in medicine, to deeply personal explorations of family history, diet and lifestyle choices, and cultural fashion.

Thank you to the staff, mentors, and families who supported our students throughout this milestone journey.

This weekend, Grade 4 and 5 students participated in the 3rd annual DIA Junior MUN conference. The event provided our young delegates with a fantastic opportunity to research global issues, engage in rigorous debate, and collaborate with peers to draft international resolutions. They truly embodied the school’s spirit of leadership and critical thinking throughout the committee sessions.

The hard work and thorough preparation of our students was well rewarded, with NLCS Dubai taking home two awards for Best Position Paper and one for Best Delegate. We are incredibly proud of all our participants for their dedication and academic excellence.

We also extend our sincere thanks to all of the student chairs and organisers at the DIA Emirates Hills campus for hosting such an exceptional and well-run conference.

As part of their inquiry into transport, our KG1 students explored how ideas can be transformed from design to reality. Using their creativity and problem-solving skills, students designed their own modes of transport before bringing them to life as 3D models in the Innovation Suite. Their designs were then printed as toy models for the children to enjoy and interact with.
It was wonderful to see the excitement and pride on their faces as they held their creations for the first time. Well done to all our KG1 students for their imagination, curiosity and enthusiasm throughout this learning experience.

We look forward to welcoming you at the Grade 5 PYP Exhibition.

As our Grade 5 students prepare for their Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition next week, it has been wonderful to see them engaging thoughtfully with their projects and embracing this important milestone in their IB journey.

Adding a special dimension to their preparation, our Grade 10 students recently joined them to share insights from their own experience of completing the Middle Years Programme (MYP) Personal Project. Having successfully navigated a similar process of inquiry, research and reflection, the Grade 10 students offered valuable advice and encouragement to help our younger learners approach the Exhibition with confidence.

This cross-phase collaboration is a wonderful example of the strong sense of community that defines an NLCS education. It also reflects one of our core pillars, Pastoral Care, as students support and learn from one another through meaningful relationships across year groups.
