ENGLISH CLASS ≠ ELOCUTION CLASS

Your child may get good marks in English at school and still struggle to speak confidently.

Here’s the difference:

🎤 ELOCUTION CLASS
Your child learns:
• How to speak clearly
• How to pronounce words properly
• How to use their voice effectively
• How to pause instead of rushing
• How to use the right tone and expression
• How to stand and present themselves
• How to speak in front of a group without freezing

English gives your child the language.

A child can know exactly what they want to say but still speak too softly, too quickly, without expression or with very little confidence.

But knowing what an anecdote is is only the beginning.

Children can learn the theory. They can learn speaking techniques, rhetorical devices and presentation skills. But knowing a technique and actually using it confidently in front of a real audience are two very different things.

Grades are important. But grades alone are not enough.

Universities and employers look beyond academic results. They look for communication, confidence, critical thinking, leadership, presentation skills, creativity, and the ability to express ideas clearly.

That is why, in our Speech, Drama and Communication Skills classes, we focus on developing the skills children need not only for exams, but for real life, university and their future careers.

👂👂 Two ears. One mouth. There’s a reason.

One of the simplest communication lessons we can teach children is also one of the most important: learn to listen before you speak.

The ancient Greek philosopher Zeno of Citium is credited with the idea that we have two ears and one mouth so that we may listen more and speak less.

For children, this is not about being quiet or suppressing their opinions.

🏆 A HISTORICAL WIN FOR OUR STUDENTS! 🏆

In May 2026, our first batch of UAE Centre students participated in the Performing Arts Festival 2026, affiliated with the British and International Federation of Festivals, UK, through the British Lanka Festival for the Performing Arts.

They performed Verse, Prose, Shakespeare, Acting, Public Speaking, Mime, Storytelling and more, earning medals, certificates and professional adjudicator report sheets. 🏅📜

But this is bigger than winning.

The Performing Arts Festival is performed in front of a live audience, giving our students the opportunity to face stage fright, conquer it and build real confidence through public speaking and performance.

Stage fright? Faced.
Public speaking? Done.
Confidence? Built. 🎭🔥

Because confidence doesn’t come from avoiding the stage.

It comes from getting on it.

And these skills don’t stop at the classroom or the stage. They become lifelong skills for interviews, presentations, leadership, business, networking and whatever career our students choose to pursue.

One thing I have noticed while teaching children here in Dubai is that many children are struggling with something we don’t talk about enough: HOW to be a good friend.

They may be confident. They may speak well. They may be academically strong.

But do they know how to include someone?
How to disagree without being nasty?
How to recognise when they have hurt someone?
How to show real kindness and humility?

These are skills too.

In my classes, I don’t just teach children how to communicate confidently. I help them understand what real friendship, respect, kindness and humility look like, and how to connect with each other positively.

Because honestly, that is more important than any communication skill I could ever teach them.

Children everywhere are learning these essential social skills. Our children in Dubai deserve the same opportunity.

We are not just teaching children to speak well. We are helping them learn how to treat people well.
