Hello All, I have been away for a while from this page but I am back now and happy to upload a video I took earlier to explain significance of full yogic breath. Learning this is an absolute must before you begin other breathing techniques like kapalabhati and pranayamas. Practicing a few rounds of deep yogic breath everyday will help you understand how the abdominal muscles and diaphragm move in the process of respiration. And how through their movement, they also massage the internal digestive organs tand help maintain a healthy body mind system.

I often notice most of us have a hard time relaxing. We equate it to plopping on the couch, watching TV, maybe smoking or browsing on our phones through endless whatsapp forwards and messages.
But true relaxation, in the yogic parlance, means learning to switch off completely from the external world and redirecting all that outward flowing energy through our senses back into the body via our awareness and breath.
If one digs deeper into the concept of relaxation, it is really the basis of all productive activity.
Think about it – A good night’s sleep before an important exam or presentation, a hearty laugh before a tense moment, a calm stroll before a troubleshooting session or the “breathe” instruction from the doc before someone is about to push out a tiny being onto the planet 😊
Traditional Hatha Yoga applies this very rule of switching between tension and relaxation to achieve a better, well rounded state of body/mind. Shavasana/ Co**se pose used intermittently throughout the Yoga practice teaches us this precious technique and re-wires our brains to switch to “Relax” mode as soon as an intense effort is released from our end.
Any exercise or workout regime, that tells you to keep your heart rate up constantly, has no real understanding of this simple yet profound principle. No insight as to how to balance the sympathetic nervous system vis-à-vis the parasympathetic. Or as to why it is essential to learn to switch from the aggressive “flight or fight” mode to “rest & relax” in a constantly buzzing, chaotic world.
Number of times things fall into place when one puts in the best effort and learns how to let go….To a large extent, maybe this is what Krishna meant when he said to Arjuna “Perform your action, let go of the results”. This cardinal principle can be applicable on so many levels …physical, emotional, spiritual….it is unbelievable! 💕😁
And the best part about Shavasana …it can be a practice unto itself….just 10 min of conscious relaxation will transform…
Ultimately all life is a process of learning to let go ….so….Relax…..:-)

Every aasan/ posture in Hatha Yoga is designed to work on specific areas of the body. Designed by ancient adepts who fully understood not just the physical body (Sthula Sharira) but also the subtle body (Sukshma Sharira).
The subtle body is not some imaginary bubble in or around the physical body, rather it is a very real, vital aspect of every human system that comprises of atleast 72000 energy channels (Nadis/ Meridiens), circulating Prana (Vital/ lifeforce energy) within the human instrument.
And interestingly the Prana here is not merely intake of oxygen. It is considered to be the subtle energy within the breath.
When we practice Kriyas (cleansing), Pranayamas (breath regulation), Sun Salutations or Asanas (Postures), we open up various areas of our body to this the flow of energy/ Prana.
One of the best ways to ensure we maximize our PRANA intake, is to start every yoga practice with the Kapalabhati breathing technique. The active exhalations in Kapalabhati not only exercise our diaphragm and respiratory organs but also open up the nasal passages beautifully so we can bring in Prana deeper into our bodies through the NOSE.
And yes, breathing through the NOSE is the key in classical Hatha Yoga practice.
Breath is the key to life.
Breath holds the key to liberation.

One can't Do Yoga, one can only BE in Yoga.
Yoga means union of the mind, body and spirit and refers to a certain state of consciousness achieved after a proper, holistic practice.
Traditional Hatha Yoga, taught in the Himalayan schools, is an exact, scientific and easy-to-learn system that aims at naturally achieving this Union. This style of yoga has not been modified or watered down. The teachings have survived intact and are practiced as originally presented in the Himalayas, focusing on 5 main areas for a healthy body & mind:
- Proper Exercise (Physical postures/ Asanas)
- Proper Breathing (Breath regulation/ Pranayama)
- Proper Relaxation
- Proper Diet
- Positive Thinking and Meditation
