⭐🏆The Global Black Impact Summit Legacy Award goes to: Luol Deng, President of the South Sudan Basketball Federation received on his behalf by Amadou Gallo Fall.
Luol Deng OBE is a 2-Time NBA All Star and President of the South Sudan Basketball Federation. Luol enjoyed a 15-year career as an elite competitor and is the fourth all time leading scorer for the Chicago Bulls. An international sportsman, Luol has been a key figure in the advancement of basketball in the UK, South Sudan, and the continent of Africa broadly. In 2021, Luol was awarded with the Order of the British Empire for his contributions to the sport.
Luol’s lifelong commitment to social impact is expressed through the Luol Deng Foundation, headquartered in Juba, South Sudan. Deng Academy, LDF’s flagship program, is a multi-court outdoor facility that runs year-round basketball programming for over 1,000 youth. The Academy leverages sport as a tool for access to education, health & wellness, gender equality, and providing an enduring safe space from conflict. Notable partners include USAID, US Embassy, and the Jr. NBA. In addition to sport for development, the NGO also supports medical supply distribution, sponsored surgeons trips, and emergency food relief.

⭐🏆The Global Black Impact Summit Impact Award goes to: Amadou Gallo Fall, President of the Basketball Africa League (BAL)
As President of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), Amadou Gallo Fall led the historic league’s launch in May 2021 and defines its vision and strategy for years to come. Fall oversees the league’s business and basketball operations, leading its efforts to build a comprehensive basketball ecosystem in Africa.
Prior to being named BAL President in May 2019, Fall was Vice President & Managing Director of NBA Africa, where he worked with local federations, corporations, NGOs and other key stakeholders to grow the game of basketball across the continent. He helped open the NBA’s office in Johannesburg in 2010 and over the next decade oversaw the league’s grassroots development efforts and partnerships with marketing, media, and consumer products companies in Africa.

The Global Black Impact Summit (GBIS) on Tuesday featured panel discussions on Media Representation, Marketing and Storytelling and Nurturing Future Leaders – Empowering Black Youth for Excellence. The sessions provided insight into the role media and education play in advancing inclusivity worldwide.
During the media panel, speakers explored the impact representation has on perceptions of the global Black community as well as the various ways to promote positive narratives and authentic storytelling. Allié Merrick McGuire, Founder of AwareNow Media, drew awareness to and called for brands to think carefully about their communication surrounding diversity and inclusiveness.
