Have you ever ended up doing the one thing you never imagined you’d love?

As a child, I always looked up to my mum. She absolutely adored being around children and spent over a decade teaching, leading schools, and managing early years settings. Our house was always full of cousins, messy DIY projects, imaginative games, and creative adventures.

But believe it or not… I never thought I would become a teacher.

My dream was completely different. Being half Egyptian and half Norwegian, I wanted to become the Egyptian Ambassador to Norway. I studied economics and political science, completed my Master’s, ranked in the top five of my class, and specialised in economic research within the textile industry.

Life, however, had a very different plan.

Everything changed when I became a mum.

Like many parents, I found myself learning through trial and error. I was constantly searching for answers, but at the time there weren’t enough practical, research-based resources to help parents and early years educators support children’s learning in simple, meaningful ways.

That journey changed my life.

It led me back into education—not just as a teacher, but as an early years educator, consultant, trainer, and children’s author. Today, everything I create, from my books to my training and content, is driven by one mission: helping adults build stronger connections with children through stories, play, and everyday moments.

Sometimes the path you never planned becomes the one you were always meant to follow.
